We had the good fortune of connecting with Renee Behr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Renee, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The success of Behr and Behr is mainly due to building relationships, great customer care and caring about the community in which I live. Working alongside my husband Ed, son Brandon, Daughter -in -law Leah and son Erik contributes to the multi-generations and understanding the variety of needs and complexity to each situation.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started working part time for my husband Ed in real estate as he needed some administrative care and organization when he started as a Realtor. As our three children grew older, I moved into the full-time role working alongside Ed and bringing my strengths and attributes into his newly established business. Residential Real Estate is an awesome profession as it offers opportunity to meet all different sorts of people and become friends with them almost instantly as I get to spend hours driving around in my car showing them homes and sharing about the great community in which we live. Since the residential market is always shifting adaptation to the market was always a challenge until I just got back to the basics of building relationships and trust. We are a family team of five and working with my husband, two sons and daughter-in-law brings a wide array of expertise to our company.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming to town, I would start by taking her on a tour of the sites in Colorado Springs. Drive thru the Navigators property and show her the castle that the founder of our city general Jackson Palmer had built for his wife Queenie, then on to Garden of the Gods a city park with magnificent beauty and rock formations. We would even get out of the car and hike a little and hold up balance rock for a photo op. When we would exit the park, we would head up to Manitou Springs, a smaller city at the base of a mountain and a quaint tourist community adorned with great shops and eateries. We would procced to drive or jump on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak a mountain that reaches to 14,115-foot summit and that inspired Katharine Lee Bates’ to write the anthem, “America the Beautiful,” Of course we would need to walk along the lake at The Broadmoor hotel and sit on the terrace next to the wood burning outdoor fireplace then end the day with dinner at Lumen8 a newer rooftop bar and restaurant in the center of our city in the Trolley District.
El Paso County the area in which we live is known for extensive trails and parks some of my personal favorite hikes include Limbaugh Trail by Monument, Colorado, Red Rock Canyon Open space, Section 16 and Cheyenne canon. Many outdoor enthusiasts’ travelers here enjoy the Manitou Springs incline and I would point that out to her. If coerced I might consider the trek up the incline as the views are stunning but the trail climbs pretty much straight up 2,011 feet and her body would need to be acclimated to the higher altitude. Helen Hunt falls in Cheyenne Canyon and hike to the top would be enjoyable as well.
I started playing pickleball so we would get involved in a doubles match at Garden of the Gods Club courts then enjoy a glass of Austin Hope afterwards at the outdoor patio that overlooks Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods probably the best view in the city at the Rocks Dining room.
PikeRide the city electric bike rental service would be activated, and I would tour her on Legacy Loop an approximately 10-mile trail, park and recreation loop surrounding our downtown. We would stop at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum for a photo op, I would point out Weidner Stadium as we rode by and headed towards America the beautiful Park. Colorado College is along the trail, Popsicle bridge and a brief stop for soft ice cream at Tasty Freeze. Ending the loop would be to enjoy a hot lemon ginger tea at Shugas along with their spicy shrimp soup and Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil bruschetta.
