We had the good fortune of connecting with Rev. Nova Maddux and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rev. Nova, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Authenticity, by far. Being face to face with so many people gives my the opportunity to really express my authenticity, passion, and experience when it comes to reading the Tarot, Herbalism and Witchcraft as a whole. The Coven of Cosmic Redemption, as well as Ragana’s Hut both strive to be our most honest selves, so people can have a true experience for themselves.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own and operate Ragana’s Hut, which is an online witchcraft brand which features an extensive herbal apothecary, artisanal handcrafted candles, self care items and more. I also own and operate The Coven of Cosmic Redemption which offers Tarot & Pokemon readings, custom spell work, workshops like Graveyard Magic, Candle Magic, and Channeling among others. My goals as both a witch and a brand is to let people experience and learn about the metaphysical world in a safe, inclusive environment. I grew up raised in this environment fortunately, so the practical side of things made sense. However, learning the business side of things has been my biggest challenge. I took my work to a professional level during the Covid outbreak in 2020, so I had to learn it all from the ground up. Everything from websites, marketing, the whole thing; yet that challenge taught me more about my brand than anything else has, especially when it involves my clients and their satisfaction.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First choice here in Colorado Springs for food would have to be The Rabbit Hole. It’s a full experience the second you step down that stairwell, and the food is beyond delicious. For a fun day out, Manitou Springs is a go to for me and my guests. Tons of great shopping, a lot of food, a full arcade to explore, but the best part is the incline! Areas like the Royal Gorge, and Red Rocks Open Space would also make the list as I love to hike.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my mom, Christine and her Husband, Tim a huge shoutout for always being there for me. I also want to thank my partner Mateo for always supporting me, and lastly both of my grandmothers for making all of this possible.
