We had the good fortune of connecting with Richard Mathes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Richard, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I believe business comes from purpose. Your purpose in life should help define your life’s works. Bridging the gap between marketing and humanity builds clarification. Something cherished by all. It confirm your thoughts or give you insight to something that may benefit you for life. Communication though music thought me to use my voice. Experiential marketing created proof of concept. A connection between the two created transparence. Transparence created value. I built Market Horse based on value, transparence and integrality. The things I value the most in raising a family!

What should our readers know about your business?
The road to developing Market Horse was amazing. Life and business always has it challenges. As a young man playing sports and raising my first kid at 14 I learned quickly how to fall down and get back up without missing a beat. I graduated from High School and College with that as a theory. I soon realized the phrase “If you stay ready you never have to get ready” defined the speed the world truly moves at. Sales are great but agreements develop a teams.

Understanding the full spectrum of sales and marketing allows Market Horse to stand in a league of it’s own. From the point of manufacturing a good or products, to packing, test marketing before a launch, developing key accounts to generate useable funds, brokerage, distribution and finally experiential marketing became clear to me. We focus on the three things we do the best. Brokerage, Distributor Management and Experiential Marketing. That type of focus is what brands need after completing their dream brand.

We are proud of all of our accomplishments big or small. Recently in 2022 we garnered distribution agreements for brands with KeHe, LoCo Food Distribution, Southern Glazer Wine and Spirits, New Age Beverages and more. We had huge sales success with companies like Alta’s Convenience Stores, Safeway and Whole Foods. Our independent chains sale also proved to be a success. Landing accounts in Lucky’s, Choice Market, Marczyk’s for brands like Odyssey Elixir, Moodify Food and MOR Kombucha gives us an extreme confidence and excitement for what to come in 2023.

We also look forward to working with a few of our celebrity partners I developed relationships with during my music career!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver is filled with fun. I would say start downtown. Pick your favorite type of food and I’m sure you can find it downtown. Good food fun parties and great people!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The greatest book on earth tells many stories. I’m bless to know the Bible. Each story inspires a part of my life. I have also had a few awesome mentors that continue to play a role in my life.
