We had the good fortune of connecting with Roam Boulder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roam, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Roam Boulder was founded on the principle that nothing is guaranteed and everything can change in a blink of an eye. That being the case, the Founders do not fear failure, but rather embrace it. As a result of this mindset, Roam is built on the idea that taking risks is the only way to grow. Without that initial leap of faith, you may never know what you are capable of. This belief has manifested itself in the momentous growth of Roam Boulder in the past six months.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Roam Boulder is Boulder’s life and style publication. Roam aims to represent a diverse compilation of voices in order to cultivate a platform that engages and inspires dialogue surrounding fashion. Roam provides quality insight on Fashion, Lifestyle, Culture, and Art. Through its journalistic integrity, Roam seeks to deliver a variety of perspectives to engage with the Boulder community through our issues in both print and online.

Roam was founded in July 2021 by Aspen Pasikov and Julia Belian. The idea for the magazine was inspired by a similar magazine called Moda Madison which is UW-Madison’s life and style publication. Julia and Aspen knew about Moda Madison through one of their friends who worked on it and have always wished something similar existed in Boulder. Essentially, they saw a need, decided to fill it, and that’s how Roam Boulder got its start. They aim to build a community and provide a creative outlet for like-minded individuals with the end goal of publishing 4 print magazines a year.

Through the development of Roam, Aspen and Julia have learned the power of taking the initial leap of faith and the unbelievable success it reaps. By pushing their limits, they have opened up a world of endless possibilities and instilled newfound confidence to continue taking risks.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start by having breakfast at Snooze in Union Station, then continue on our day at the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art. Later in the day we would do some shopping at Cherry Creek Mall and stop by the Botanic Gardens. Then we would end the night with an early dinner at the Milk Market before our concert at Red Rocks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Founders of Roam Boulder would like to dedicate this Shoutout to our lovely Editorial Board consisting of Jess Lober, Aidan Jones, Max Hicks, Garrett Botsch, Sebastian Arreola, Emma Blackburn, Victoria Benkowski, Kevin Korn, Taylor Newman, Carly Killorin, Jianai Zhao, Cristian Abood, Samantha Hruska, Abigail Wiegmann, Katalina Villarreal, Gavin Warner, and Sean Matthews. This team of dedicated creatives is the backbone of Roam Boulder and we are forever grateful for their passion for Roam.
