Meet Robbie Jandik | Real Estate Agent & Aspiring Car Salesman for Content Creation

We had the good fortune of connecting with Robbie Jandik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robbie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Everyone has a different angle of attack when it comes to real estate (for whatever industry you are in, replace the following with your respective terms). Some people are great at making phone calls, some are great at door knocking, and others are great at making in-person connections. Naturally, everybody should focus on what they are best at given that this will yield that most profit. It would be beneficial for that agent to also explore new avenues and try out new things as they may discover another pursuit that they excel in or have a competitive advantage.
Simply put, this applies to any business owner, entrepreneur, or creative director.
I personally am pursuing an approach that combines multiple angles of attack that includes audio/video, photography, photoshop/editing tools, and a heavy social media push. I come from a background of app development which has heavily helped me to better understand algorithms and how popular apps such as TikTok and Instagram work. I essentially want to combine all of my skills and passions to better aid my real estate career. My personal “why” is that I want to be the most well-known real estate agent in the state (to start with) without owning billboards.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am my own director. A very large majority of the content I create is envisioned beforehand and I then take the necessary steps to create and edit it before the content is strategically published. I am certainly no wizard in the content creation space, and I certainly love to work with others and receive different opinions or points of view. Every single post, video, idea, or conversation is a new opportunity to learn and become better. By no means am I saying that I am putting out the best content ever made, because quite frankly some of it has been hilariously bad. But with each of those bad posts, I deliberately had something that I was testing or seeking to learn. You should apply this same principle in whatever industry you are in, especially if you are an artist or a creative person. In other words, don’t worry if your creations early on are subpar since hardly anyone becomes a Picasso of their industry over night.
If you’re stuck on the fence between trying something new and staying with your current habits, take a sip of caffeine, listen to your favorite music on high volume, and tell yourself that you’re going to do it. Get motivated to try new things. Even if it doesn’t go the way you want it to, you’ll have at least learned something and will never live with the regret of “what if?”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re going to spend some time outside on a nice day because a few minutes per day is crucial to keeping the mind fresh, preventing headaches, and increasing appreciation for the work that one does inside. If we’re in Colorado during the winter we’re going to spend some time on Vail’s mountains skiing or snowboarding; If it is summertime we will then be walking around the streets and engaging in shopping or food. In Minnesota’s summertime, I highly recommend spending time near or on the lakes, given that we are the land of 10,000 lakes. Don’t plan on working afterwards however because the sun is tiring and will promote dehydration and naps.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A lot of people that inspire me I’ve had to specifically pick out as having a similar mindset. I’m in the real estate business but there is no large player in the game that yet motivates me to be better. Don’t get me wrong though, there are a lot of people in my market center and office that I look up to, who encourage me, provide energy and give me wisdom. For me, a lot of the people who inspire me come from the content creation space, the shark tank space, or the entrepreneurial space.
Having grown up in the era of rapid YouTube expansion and the first Apple devices, those who create content while simultaneously building a brand are the people who inspire me because that is what I am trying to do. In addition to being a great real estate agent I want to be an owner of businesses (keyword, plural).
I recommend finding the people whose personalities are similar to yours, whether they are famous or not, and studying them. Take in their forms of expression such as podcasts, books, recommendations, videos, pictures, and so forth – and if you can meet up with them in person. The people who are most similar to you are the people who will feed you positive energy whereas the people who are not similar to you will feed you different/new ideas with a completely different mindset. It is good to combine these two types of people in your life.
