We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is that we implemented a give back component into our business strategy.  Our brand gives back to the community by funding mental health programs,  book scholarships, and assisting kids who live in underdeveloped communities gain access to STEM related fields. I desired to make an impact while growing my business and came to realize the impact has a much longer ripple effect in the success of our business model. When our customers mental health becomes empowered when they purchase our products, that alone defines the success of our brand at Confidence Apparel.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Confidence Apparel is a clothing company that designs products with positive affirmations to encourage others to live well, aspire for more, and to walk in confidence. We use a percentage of every sale to give back to mental health programs and support STEM education. What sets is apart of other brands is that we truly care about the well being of those who purchase our products. There’s a lot of clothing brands that want you to buy their clothing and wear their logo to feel confidence. We, at Confidence Apparel want our customers to wear our clothing to remind themselves and others that confidence comes from how you think, not what logo you wear. I got to where I am as an entrepreneur through faith in Jesus Christ, support from my spouse, and passion to serve others through the power of fashion. My faith keeps me grounded in trusting the process of the entrepreneurial journey. The grind and passion goes hand in hand to continue growing the business and spreading positive messages around the world. It was not easy, there were many challenges along the way. I want the world to know that Confidence Apparel is a brand that cares about your well being, and seeing you succeed in life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Favorite spots in the city are Navy Pier because they have great locally made shops, restaurants, activities, and great rooftop scenery. Not to mention our store is inside Navy Pier, so they must experience the Confidence Apparel brand.
Another great spot is Kilwins they have the best ice cream flavors and treats in town!
Next they must dine at Virtue Restaurant in Hyde Park.
There’s so many great things to do and see in the city but these are my favorites.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout Norman Scales Jr., my husband for the support, love and encouragement he has given me since I’ve decided to began my journey as an entrepreneur. Without his support I wouldn’t have the level of freedom to pursue my passion, dream big and take a chance on myself.
