We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Domson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is scary, but often well worth it, and if not, at least you can say you tried & not always wonder, “what if?” Starting this online boutique was definitely a risk, but it has also been a huge dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I always found an excuse/something to hold me back, but I had a huge wakeup call in 2018 that helped me realize life is too short to live out anything other than your dreams 🌙✨ So, instead of being subjected to my own self-doubt + fear, I’ stepped into the discomfort. I took the risk. With discomfort comes change + growth 🦋 Say yes to yourself, because you are so worthy of pursuing your dreams, putting in the work + doing what you’ve always wanted to do ☻ BE BRAVE — the world needs what you’re hiding 🤍
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I‘ve always been super passionate about stylish + fun clothing ☻ I love to dress unique + find those fun trends that make me feel 100% me! Before Ruby Wyld started, I’d often get asked, “can you just be my personal shopper?!” After hearing that a certain amount of times, I decided it was time to turn my passion into a business, + Ruby Wyld was born. I love to search for + create pieces that are unique, high quality & also affordable! I want people to feel confident in what they’re wearing + also realize getting dressed should be fun! I feel so grateful to be so many beautiful humans’ personal shoppers now ♡ I will say, finding my path has not been easy. I actually still work full time at my office job as a secretary. I went to college and earned my bachelor’s degree, but I soon realized I wasn’t on the right path. Something I often must remind myself is that nothing changes if nothing changes. I really started to do that inner work (something I often avoid), and I was able to truly find myself. I began to own how I wanted to view myself + started showing up as her every day.
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned is to always stay true to myself. It’s not easy + it can be so hard not to compare ourselves to others, but I’ve learned to not worry about what everyone else is doing + instead focus on my own work + do all I can to level up 💪🏼
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am so grateful to live in this beautiful city. If I wanted to show a bestie the best time ever, there are so many cool spots I would want her to see. We would undoubtedly go up on Casper Mountain! Depending on the time of year, we may want to hike the Bridle Trail or go to Hogadon Basin Ski Area. For food, Eggingtons, Cheese Barrel, J’s Pub, FireRock Steakhouse, Occasions By Cory + Silver Fox Steakhouse are top on the list — YUM. We would also need to hop over to Grant Street Grocery & Market and Scarlows Art & Coffee. And don’t even get me started on Backwards Distilling Company’s yummy cocktails — this one is a must. Gaslight Social is super fun to hang out at, too. There are just so many fun events depending on the season. David Street Station has summer concerts + shopping, & splash pad, and also ice skating during the colder months. Downtown shopping is amazing. I love to support local however I can. Floral Rhino is one of my favs! Alcova lake is such a fun spot during the warmer months and only about a half hour away. I could go on and on! Can you tell I love this city?
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
FAMILY. My mom + dad who gave me a small loan of $1000 to start this boutique + encouraged me to pursue my dream.
My siblings whom I look up to so much.
My husband, who I should truly call my silent business partner with how much he supports me. He works long hours, overnights, outta towns, and he still comes home + supports my side hustle in any way he can. I cannot thank this man enough.
My daughter, for being my why. I want her to see if you hustle hard enough and want it enough, you can do anything you set your mind to.
