We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Lawrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to turn a hobby into something that I could make money doing. I also love to travel and run, so I wanted a flexible schedule that would allow me to do what I wanted, when I wanted.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think I’m really easy to get along with, and I like making people laugh and have a good time. The happier they are doing the photo sessions, the better their photos look!
Building a business has definitely been challenging, but persistence and optimism are the key to overcoming these challenges.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born and raised in Boulder, and this area has so many great activities! Sometimes I become a bit jaded and have to remind myself how beautiful this area is. A few of the must-sees in the area are Chautauqua Park, the Pearl Street Mall, the CU campus, and NCAR.
Food wise, my friend Bobby has a great pizza place called Pizzeria Locale, or if you’re wanting to go fancy, check out Frasca! I like to reduce my driving when possible, so places close to me that I really like are China Gourmet, Dagabi Cucina, and Buddha.
For music, Red Rocks is super amazing too!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a Shoutout to my photography teacher at CU, Mark Mattivi. He really inspired me to get into photography in the first place, and I am so appreciative that he helped set me on that path!
