We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryn Goodwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryn, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always wanted a place to grow and for my friends to grow and enjoy making art, so starting a collective has been a great way to bring us together as one and do different events and performances. I never really fit the mold for living a typical life path and when I finally came to terms with that I started working tword something of my own, which ended up being The Neon Fox Collective.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My favorite art I make is my Costume Designs, I make them for theatre, drag, cosplay, the ren faire, and much more! It took a lot of trust in myself to take the necessary steps and applying to many costume jobs I knew I wouldn’t get. I had a portfolio of only my own drag, burlesque, and shadowcast costumes and prayed it would be enough to get my feet off the ground. I didn’t attend college for this so I relied on my theatre and shadowcast experience, and learned what I could from the people that knew the ins and outs of it. It took a long time to feel like I was good enough, and to realize this was my path in theatre and not acting as much. I’m thankful to have been given the experiences and trusted with this integral part of productions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to which ever museum interests them most since denver has a good amount, If it were up to me we would go to the historic and science museum and the art museum, We would go see some theatre at either miners alley or really anywhere where a good show is being produced! We would go see some drag hopefully stagefluid at the mercury Cafe and if they where into it we could go take some fun photos at the Crown Hill cemetery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give credit to my close friends Tyler Perry (@alphabet_mafiart) Ashley Morgan (@amidst_livingartists), Kassidy Morrow(@kraftingeclectic), and Alec Romero-Hoffman (@abr_artandphotographyhouse)
For they have all helped me in either loving myself and my art, giving me opportunities, support, and inspiration or just being great friends.
