Meet Samantha Stuber | Therapist & Yoga Teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Stuber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Throughout my life, and my journey to become a therapist, my work life balance has varied a lot. I deeply value my personal time, and having the space to fill my own cup is critical to the care I can provide my clients.
Owning my own business requires me to have better boundaries with myself. Aside from my clients who are depending on me making our appointments, there’s really no one else holding you accountable when you own a business. I make my hours, I decide how many clients to see in a day – it’s incredibly empowering! And, it can be a challenge to turn it off, so to speak. There’s always something I could be doing. It’s an ongoing balancing act, but as of now, I feel I’m balancing it pretty well.
Most importantly, I strive to carve out time for myself. Going to yoga & exercise classes, getting outdoors, self-care appointments like acupuncture and massage, and giving myself lots of space for rest are critical for me. It helps me to connect more with Self, and when I am in Self, I help my clients access that within themselves.

What should our readers know about your business?
Since I started my path toward becoming a therapist, I’ve been interested in starting my own practice. I wasn’t sure exactly when, and I certainly didn’t expect to do it so soon, but the timing was just right for me. I was ready for a change, and have always wanted to build something just like this – a space where folks can just be, share, heal, learn, and grow.
In the therapy & counseling field, a lot of people are told throughout their education that they have to wait to do this – that they must “pay their dues” in the community mental health realm, or work for a group practice. That sort of messaging can create limiting beliefs about our abilities and competence, which I find damaging. It certainly wasn’t easy to go out on my own, but it has been so worth it.
As owner/therapist of Samantha Stuber Therapeutics, my goal beyond all else is to be of service. That means creating a space in which people can learn, heal, expand, and deepen – whether it’s in my office, via telehealth, or on other platforms. The intention behind Samantha Stuber Therapeutics is to explore the art of healing, however my clients define that for themselves.
My approach is deeply integrative. I bringing a blend of body-oriented (somatic) and client-centered approaches that include transpersonal psychology, parts work, gestalt, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I believe in the importance of whole-person wellness & strive to create an open space for my clients to heal. My sessions tend to be unconventional in many aspects – we might laugh, we might cry, we might move our bodies or create art – it depends on how my clients show up & what they’re needing most that day. I feel that’s where the creativity in this field gets to come out & play.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My partner, Jake. He’s always encouraged me to follow my heart, to continue learning, growing, building myself. He was incredibly supportive throughout my education and helped me to start my own practice. He’s been my #1 cheerleader throughout this whole journey.
