We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandy Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandy, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent and business owner/entrepreneur I believe that one of the most important traits I have modeled for my children is perseverance and dedication. My children have witnessed the building of my business from the ground up. My career allows me to teach my children to follow their dreams and achieve their goals. I believe that instilling on them the power of hard work towards what you love is one of the most important things I can do as a parent.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Currently I am an independent esthetician offering aesthetic services out of my salon suite. One of my many passions in life is to help women feel beautiful in their own skin. Every one deserves that feeling. I am so thankful that my career allows me to do so on a daily basis.
As an independent beauty professional owning my own business has allowed me to have full creative and professional control with my business practices. Ultimately I have the freedom to treat each and every one of my clients not only as a customer but as a person.
One of the most important things to me within my business is being able to provide quality services in a a comfortable environment. What drives me every day to operate my business is the ability to uplift my clients with beauty services that boost their self-esteem.
I take pride in my my artistry. I love that I am able to express my creativity within the services that I provided. I am so excited to continue to express myself artistically through my work for many years to come.
Beginning with my return to school once my children reached school-age, I have been building my business for over four years. Even when I was in esthetics school I knew that I wanted to own my own business one day.
Although I was eager to start my own business, after graduating school I completed multiple advanced training courses including an apprentices position at a local salon.
After attending some advanced aesthetics courses I was fortunate enough to meet some amazing fellow entrepreneur beauty professionals. It was then that I decided to take the plunge and start my own business. I registered my business, found a space, and never looked back.
I then spent the next two years perfecting my craft, and building clientele. There have been many challenges that have risen throughout the last couple of years however none of those challenges have been stronger than my will to succeed. Being able to overcome these challenges has taught me the power of perseverance. I believe that the ability to move forward and learn from every experience within my business and life has attributed to my success.
I would like the world to know that as cliché as it might sound if you have a dream in your heart you should follow it. That seed was planted there for a reason and being true to your passions will bring you true happiness.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When and if I have a friend or family member in town I would invite them to experience one of the many beauty services that I offer.
We would then grab a bite to eat at my favorite brunch spot the urban egg.
I would then take them sightseeing at one of the many beautiful scenic outdoor parks that Colorado Springs has to offer. One of my go too’s is of course Garden of the gods Park or Manitou Springs!
For dinner we would visit downtown Colorado Springs with the possibility of drinks afterward.
For the rest of the week we would continue site seeing at places like pikes Peak, Stratton open space, old Colorado city, and Cheyenne Mountain zoo.
A couple more options for dining would have to be my favorite restaurant in town Bonnie and Read downtown as well as Prime 25 steakhouse.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My children are my driving force in life and in my business. Ultimately my main goal has been to be able to support my family financially as well as achieve work life balance. Although my business does bring me personal joy everything I do I do for them. My spouse always continues to be my number one supporter. Without his support I’m not sure where I would be. Being able to rely on my husband to do his part at home or even helping out with my business has made my success possible.
