Meet Sarah Uhl | Artist + Wellness Retreat Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Uhl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After being the event director of 5Point Film Festival for 4 years and throwing parties and creating experiences for creative people I knew I wanted to switch over to “being” a creative person, not just hanging out with them! I didn’t know what art form I would land on at first but I knew I had stories to share through the power of art. It took a little bit of time to find me niche but even though I now have an established business my niche is always shifting. We are always growing and evolving as parts of nature and I think when you can let your business reflect your personal growth you will always have an authentic product.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a reflection of my love of nature. We are all nature and nature is us. I want people to see themselves in and as a part of the beauty that surrounds us, especially here in Western Colorado. My artwork is a mixture of my memories and experiences in the mountains as well as actual places I like to paint. My wellness retreats are about expressing your sense of self and your connection to nature through art. I certainly teach watercolor painting basics but more of my focus is on empowerment and developing a deep sense of self and a connection to our deep well of innate wisdom.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to sit beside the Crystal River in my backyard. We would soak in Avalanche Ranch Hot Springs. We would lay on our backs in the grass and stare at Mount Sopris. We would go to the farm and pick veggies for dinner. We would picnic on the hillside and listen to music during one of the Magical Moments Concerts in Redstone…
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ll dedicate my shoutouts to Julie Kennedy since she is the founder of 5point film festival and our connection was one of the live wires that brought me to the Roaring Fork Valley from Fort Collins. I knew Julie and I needed to create and learn together and so I got to experience that at 5Point. She remains a vital part of my community today.
