We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah & Greg Herr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah & Greg, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
On the client experience side of things, we do everything we can to ensure that we answer all questions they may have and some that they may not have even thought of asking. From the moment a client contacts us, we aim to remove any stress and concern about planning their event. The fact is, as an elopement photographer, most of our couples have never attended an elopement, let alone planned one so it’s our job to be as supportive and helpful as possible. Elopements are supposed to be fun and stress free and we pride ourselves in making that the case for our couples.
However, without marketing we wouldn’t be able to get bookings in the first place! A lot of photographers have amazing photos but aren’t successful because they don’t know how to get their work in front of the right couples. We’ve heavily focused on our marketing including SEO and social media efforts, which has allowed us to generate an average of 75 leads per month while being in the top percentage price-wise of elopement photographers. Now, we teach marketing to other photographers who need help getting more leads and booking more clients!

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart from many other elopement photographers is that we are a married team who eloped ourselves. We are extremely familiar with the questions they have during the planning process because we also had those same questions/concerns when we were planning our own elopement. This allows us to much easier understand and simpathize with the challenges they are running into.

One of the main things that got us to where we are was learning and implementing SEO in our business. We picked up and moved our business from Georgia to Colorado in 2023 and without having a good understanding of SEO this would have been an incredibly difficult transition. Instead, we were able to book our calendar full in our first year in Colorado because we knew how to get our brand in front of our clients.

We are now teaching the exact techniques we’ve used in our business to other photographers (The Lead Generation System) so they can attract their ideal clients. The reality is, for most small business owners, we’re out here trying EVERYTHING to make our business work and be successful. At this point in our career we’ve found a formula that works and want all of our talented peers to experience the same success that we’ve had.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re BIG outdoor people (see our career choice) so when friends visit, our top priority is to get them out into the mountains. We’d spend day 1 letting them relax and probably explore our old neighborhood of West Highlands, Denver which has tons of incredible restaurants and shops to check out. Day 2-6 would be in the mountains. Some top spots that are easy to access without a ton of hiking would be Mt Blue Sky, Guanella Pass, Independence Pass & Twin Lakes and depending on the time of year, Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. On the last day we’d do something uniquely Denver such as a Red Rocks Concert or trip to explore River North (RINO) Arts District.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d love to take a moment to shoutout the Public Land Creatives team. As elopement photographers we primarily shoot on public lands. It’s a privilege to be able to operate our business on these lands and we pride ourselves in educating our couples and guests on how to respect the land. We do everything we can to be knowledgeable on all of the rules and regulations of each place we visit with our couples whether that be a national forest, national park, bureau of land management or regional/state owned land. The Public Land Creatives team works to support and pass laws that will keep public land available for us and advocate for transparency and clear/easy to follow rules for photographers.
