We had the good fortune of connecting with Seamus Curley & Trey Kochevar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seamus & Trey, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The two of us met in early high school working in our school’s theater department. We both fell in love with storytelling and began making films together later in high school, eventually winning the Jefferson County Film Festival. We had both always had a passion for filmmaking and movies in general, and after making our own projects together we realized that there was nothing else we’d be happier doing than working in the film industry. So we moved to Los Angeles to pursue our love of moviemaking.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Less than a year ago, we came together with the idea to start a podcast where the two of us would get together every week and just talk life through a comedic lens, analyze movies & TV we’ve seen recently and share news about the entertainment industry and the development of projects that we are working on independently, and that lead us to Leave The Door Open The Podcast with Trey Kochevar & Seamus Curley. We are currently in season 2 with over 15 episodes out, different topics, movies/TV shows and guests every week! Streaming on all podcast platforms.

For years leading up to our move to Los Angeles, we had also discussed the idea of creating a sketch comedy show together, and around the same time that we began our podcast, we began development of our show. After nearly a year of writing and pre-production, we have entered the production phase on several sketches and will soon be releasing them to the public.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of our favorite spots in Colorado have to be Tracks Night Club, The Mercury Cafe, and you have to see a show at the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, 16th Street Mall, Meow Wolf, and Pearl Street Mall up in Boulder.

In Los Angeles, checking out the beach is a must, our personal favorite being Venice Beach. If you want to go out and experience the night life of LA check out the clubs and bars in West Hollywood, or take a day trip up to Griffith Park and check out the observatory. It’s hard to be bored in Los Angeles.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our shoutout is dedicated to the many Colorado creatives who have taken the leap and moved out to Los Angeles with us, the majority of which have been guests on the podcast. In addition to adding their voices to our podcast, we work with them on a regular basis for many artistic endeavors, most recently in the development and production of our upcoming untitled sketch comedy show. Including (but not limited to): Jeremiah Blackman, Anzen Kennedy, Kyle Gill, Chris Hawkins, Frank Smith, Dakota Friesen, Kent Friesen, Izzy Daniel, Cole Ramirez, Harper Guagliardo, Princeton Bolton & Jazzy Middleton. We couldn’t do what we do without these people.
