We had the good fortune of connecting with Shea Leah LeJeune and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shea Leah, why did you pursue a creative career?
I never quite fit the mold. I was homeschooled to begin with, which made for a unique childhood. And I’ve always been an entrepreneur. At age 7 I was selling rocks in our front yard to the neighbor kids. By age 9 I was teaching ballet in a friends basement. By 10 I was babysitting, teaching Bible study to younger kids and putting on full length concerts. Around 10 years old, I wrote my first book with the help of my dad and sister. I was able to publish it almost 14 years later.

At age 14 my dance studio had expanded. My parents and I invested money into changing our own basement into a dance studio. I ran that business successfully till I graduated highschool at 17.

I’ve tried conventional work.
Office cubicle in the corner was not for me. Even though my business is less predictable, and it takes a lot of creative energy, I would rather take on the challenge, then feel bored by my job week after week.

Although I’ve had 17 different types of jobs, art was the constant. Dancing ballet, Creating sketches and paintings, writing music, choreographing, photography, art was in my DNA.

When I stumbled upon life coaching in 2021 I realized that this was a job which would never make me bored! I love connecting with new people, and embracing challenges. Changing peoples lives is the most rewarding career that I could ever imagine; And my coaching business is an excellent catalyst for my creativity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I stumbled into life coaching. I discovered it on a Facebook ad in 2021. I had done similar work without knowing what it was called. I loved walking with people on their healing journey. Whether I was working as a fitness instructor or a ballet teacher, I found myself gravitating towards wanting to mentor, rather than wanting to teach.

Life coaching was such an obvious fit! When I asked my husband, if I should pay for the certification course, it was a no-brainer. He said that it made perfect sense, and that I should definitely do it. He was right.
While I began my studies at the beginning of the summer, I had my first clients by August. It seemed so fortuitous.

While coaching has not always been easy and sometimes I go for a month or two without a new client. I find that I am learning and growing and being challenged on a weekly basis to grow, and that is something that I love!

In addition, I get to meet such incredible people. My clients are such brave and beautiful human beings. They want change in their life, and they have enough humility to seek someone out to partner with them on that journey. Every session is something that I cherish! Even the slow months, I find myself writing in my book, building my brand, or going live and creating more content. I’m never bored.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When friends have visited Colorado, I have taken them to Boulder on a hike! And, we have visited Waneka Lake Park. I recommend shopping in Erie, Louisville and Lafayette. There are so many amazing small businesses!

There is always something fun to do; hiking and parks, coffee shops, artsy collectives, boutiques, antiquing, and some of the best vintage thrift stores in the nation. Not to mention if you like Mexican food! Eat Mexican all day long,
Santiago’s for breakfast, Efrain’s for lunch and Teocolli for dinner! Cowabunga for an after dinner treat. It’s a local family-run ice cream shop. Don’t forget to look west, the mountains are gorgeous, no matter what time of year.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
No matter what season that I have faced, the thing that has sustained me through every up-and-down ebb and flow, has been God. It sounds cheesy to thank Jesus, but if I thank anyone else first, it wouldn’t be as honest. I discovered my spirituality when I was a toddler. And I continually deepen my faith while growing in a more complete surrender. I do not plan my own life, rather, I follow Jesus, wherever he leads. Although it is more difficult path than the alternative, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Secondly, I have to think my parents. They were the ones who taught me about faith at a very young age. While they are imperfect humans, they did an excellent job preparing me for adulthood. My parents continually reminded me to work hard, have a good attitude, and seek God daily.

There are a few books that stand out as influencers in my life. Mere Christianity. By: C. S. Lewis and Little Women By: Louisa May Alcott among them.

One of the most powerful examples in my life was Mother Teresa. My mother helped me study about her as a young teen, and it formed my life in a very significant way. I found myself desiring to have that kind of maturity, generosity, compassion, faith and humility. I still live by a quote from Teresa, “He who has God, needs nothing else, God alone suffices.”
