We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonny G. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sonny, why did you pursue a creative career?
After graduating high school, I became a commercial actor and really enjoyed the work. The experience I had while on set really made a lasting impact on what I wanted to do in my adult life. It didn’t take long before I realized being an on camera actor was fulfilling on a personal level as well as on a professional one. As I was busy finishing my college endeavors I continued to work in the Entertainment Industry as a professional actor and stage performer. I booked a large acting gig and it was at that moment I began to understand that a creative arts career could very well happen if I put the effort and dedication into my craft full time. So, I made a decision and commitment to myself and went into acting 24/7. Although I loved acting and performing, I really desired to do more in terms of producing and creating productions for audiences. I didn’t just want to be an “artist” or “Actor” per se, so I learned the business of acting and performing which eventually lead to leadership positions in the entertainment industry and national recognition for my on camera and stage work and more. Building my own production company and lighting & decor company were also due to the fact that I was able to start my own “business” as an actor. I loved the freedom of being self employed from an early age and I was blessed enough to give my dreams an honest try. I bet on myself everytime and followed my heart. Sixteen years later and I still continue to be self employed and run my businesses, I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are very excited to be offering our lighting and design service to all types of events but specifically weddings. As a newly wed couple, my wife and I understand the headaches of trying to design everything so we make it easy for clients. We take the clients inspiration from photos then offer to do on-site consultations so that we can accurately offer the features that we know will accentuate their carefully planned elements, like the wedding cake. The thing that sets us apart is that we have a business and entertainment background so we are familiar with the specifications of the equipment and the limitations that each venue may have. Estefania has an MBA from the University of Colorado Denver and and Sonny created and produced a Tribute Show where he performed in over 100 different venues over a span of 6 years where he designed and created the entire show arrangements including video and lighting programming.

After COVID-19 caused the entertainment industry to come to a complete stop, we knew we had to pivot. We knew corporate events and weddings would be a massive market as soon as they were allowed again so during that time we made it a point to network with other vendors in the event industry and build or client list. Our brand Style Bride Lighting Boutique & Design™ is now thriving and offering a hands on approach to our clients maintaining our full attention to the details and specifics of the live event process and making it look beautiful at that!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a big foodie and as someone who always likes to try new things, I think most of the itenerary would be planned around food and drinks and some sightseeing. Some places in Colorado that would definitely make the list would be Red rocks, Union Station, Lookout Mountain, Castle Rock Zipline Adventures, Meow Wolf, and The Wood house day spa. Some restaurants we would have to go for brunch would be: Root Down, Bacon Social House, First Watch, Urban egg, My neighbor Felix, and Syrup. For drinks we’d have to go to The Chocolate Lab, Vin Rouge Wine Bar &tasting room, The Welton Room, and Williams and Graham speakeasy. Finally for dinner, Locanda del Borgo, El Mercato, La Perdida, and Venice.

As you can tell I’m a big foodie!! I think, overall, some of the most interesting people are people who are open to trying new things and people who have a diverse background. Usually those people can pull from different experiences and bring a different perspective and insight which can expand our view of life. — Estefania

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I couldn’t have made it to where I am today without the unconditional help from my wife, family and several other people and organizations including my agents at Donna Baldwin Agency, Mitchell & Associates Talent, American Music Icons Entertainment, my friend and mentor Sheila Ivy Traister, my union SAG-AFTRA and many other crew, staff and fellow creative arts professionals for giving me the opportunity to be who I am.
