We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
It isn’t always as perfect as it looks! In creative work, the final result that is show stopping and beautiful is what we want you to see. We want to create a captivating moment that leaves a lasting memory or feeling. What you don’t know is “how did we get there? How did we create something from nothing? Getting to that moment takes ideas and execution. It takes a team and hard work. It takes prep work and planning! It can be dirty, sweaty, exhausting and challenging. There is almost always something that goes wrong that needs troubleshooting and solutions. But we thrive in the challenges. The behind the scenes details that go into producing these unforgettable moments are endless. Never perfect, although we get close. But always memorable. I promise, it wasn’t that way when we started.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Creating a moment! That is what I want to share with the world. How to get there and how to make it last. I want people to experience all senses and feel that overwhelming wave of emotion or build a memory from that moment. There are so many ways to get there. Paige Lane encompasses my life experiences, career growth and personal passion. Although some may say it isn’t focused, I find that the art of what I do is essentially just tying it all together with an incredible end result. Building upon my experiences in different roles, watching with intention and self awareness, yearning for more and standing out to create that moment. It all overlaps- all ingredients to life’s recipe. With events – I am part of some of the most important days of peoples lives and I take pride in making it everything they could ever want. Florals- a dash of good ole’ mother nature- colors, textures, smells that boost endorphins. And design, it is where my heart is and creates those moments and spaces that bring an emotional response. The decision to take all of these elements and create Paige Lane really came from the surprise success in renovating a home “on my own” because I walked in, saw potential and had to have it. By far, this was the biggest risk I had taken that presented the most challenges. But the personal growth from this project and seeing the design come to life with my “circle” by my side, all helping along the way; is unmatched and opened the doors to this new chapter of my journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I cannot reiterate enough the importance of balance and that applies here too! I find happiness in so many things in life and I simply want to share those times with my circle. If they were here for a week long trip… I would want them to experience all my favorite things that span a wide range of passions and hobbies. Lively places with great atmosphere, and even better food and drinks. A sunset volleyball game in Wash Park. Perusing interior design stores and shopping fresh flower markets are all things I would want to share.

The spots? There are so many to choose from: Zac Brown Band at Red Rocks, a paddleboard session on Chatfield Reservoir. A hike “up the hill” or a spa day in Blackhawk. A latte at snooze to a margarita at Perdida to a glass of wine at Forget Me Not. I want a bit of it all!
And of course….sports! Remember how much teamwork means to me? Sports are the best to share with others. Hockey and a Colorado Avalanche game stands alone!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am nothing without my team! I have stated this to every client I have worked with from the beginning, because it really is the truth. Creating an event or a design in my head only comes to life with the team that executes those ideas with me. Of course, it starts and ends with me but the common denominator that has led to my success and kept my brand (my name) as strong as it is; is only possible with the talented people by my side. Finding the right tribe, the glue to hold things together when you think you just may not pull “this” one off is such an important element to the end result….the perfect event, the intriguing design, the most beautifully crafted floral, or the happiest couple. When combining the minds of creatives who share the same love for emotional connection and who find beauty in all things around them, there is no cap to what we have been able to do at Paige Lane and will continue to do as the company grows. So, who is my team? My circle is diverse but intimate. My family is the most vital part of my story. My twin brother, older brother and mom have been my biggest cheerleaders and are ready to jump in the deep end with me. They played such a vital role in the conception of Paige Lane and who I am as a person and a business. I also credit the rest of my circle of best friends and colleagues. It sounds general, but they are all part of the puzzle and I cannot be missing any pieces to wake up and do this every day.
