We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzanne Dani’L Simone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Suzanne Dani’L, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up a child of the Arts, upon graduating from college I really wanted to continue my professional career in music & the performing arts that I had been cultivating as a Vocalist/Dancer/Actress & Model since I was 14 years old. To add to this idea, I wanted to channel a sense of financial freedom which would also allow me to pursue my music freely, even though I was getting paid already.
Starting my Professional Photography Company, Poshtography, was a phenomenal endeavor as I utilized my B. A. in Communications & also merged talents with my Mom, a Professional Photographer of over 40 years!
Fast forward to present day & I’ve added a few additional resources for income as I’ve definitely had to regroup after the pandemic effects that I experienced in my business these last couple of years. These additions are through my Chic Fashion Lotus brand & include luxury gemstone meditation Malas, Prayer Beads, & Jewelry and also artistic digital content creations!
With these streams of income in place, as well as all being within my passionate realm of expertise, I’m truly able to access the freedom that I continue to seek for my music career & I’m also able to use my artistry in all of my business endeavors!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my fearless & unstoppable nature when I step into my element!
Being onstage for me was always the safest feeling in the world! The larger the audience, the more I feel like I can thrive & represent my skills! My path to where I am today absolutely includes the glitz & the glam, but every major opportunity I have had, I have worked for with so much dedication & devotion! It’s the work behind the scenes that not everyone always sees that defines me!
There are a lot of obstacles that one can face as an artistic type of person, but it’s about setting those challenges aside & letting nothing stop you from being who you know that you are meant to be, doing what your heart knows it’s meant to be doing!
Along the way I have learned to always remain humble, to be more assertive as opposed to trying to remain passive, & to always stay true to who I am at my core! My values are very important to me as to maintain the type of individual that I want to be known as both professionally & personally!
My hope is that the world can always see how genuine I am in my love of everything that I do! I hold myself to very high standards always & enter into my journeys with a pure & open heart. I don’t want my sweetness to be mistaken for weakness, because I am incredibly strong, but I am insanely driven in my professionalism & quality of my brands!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ohhhhh, well this one is easy!
If my best friend was visiting I’d definitely take her to grab some coffee in Wash Park, then go to the park not only to take in the beauty of the landscape & exercise aspects, but also to enjoy the incredible birds that live there! Don’t worry, my best friend is into it! Wash Park is magical & just has this special energy that I can’t get enough of!
Then we’d absolutely have to visit Cherry Creek for atleast an afternoon! It’s a pristine, charming option with so many of my favorite restaurants & shops that I would have to leave the choices up to her! Some of my favorites include Sweet Ginger, Little Ollie’s, & True Food. We also love getting tapas, so Machete would be a day date in itself, because…yum!
Taking some dance classes at Cleo Parker Robinson’dance studio would be a MUST for us, especially the West African classes!
For the evening scene I’d probably try to find a live event for us to go to like a Fashion Show, a band, or even something that I was in, which would be highly possible!!
Another alternative for staying local would be the late night Happy Hour at Wash Park Grill! They also have live music too!!
Other than the local scene, for the rest of the week some of the most incredible locations in Colorado are Eldorado Canyon near Boulder. Those two elements combined could easily be a full day, especially if we hit Pearl Street! Then there’s Pingree Park, which holds so much beauty, though it’s a little farther out, it’s a great exploration!
And of course we’d have to go to Georgetown, a former tradition of ours before her move to Hawaii.
She’s also a people person & a shopper, so any outdoor arts shows would be ideal for us! Throw in a tea & scone date & we’d be set to talk for hours!
Colorado truly offers so much diversity, there’s always something special to do!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As far as dedication goes, I am truly blessed to have my mom’s lifetime of endless love & support! I’m also extremely fortunate to be in a relationship with a man that wants nothing more than for me to succeed & pursue my every dream in my music career! Having people like this who are close in your life & whom also hold the same desire for you is really invaluable!
Mentors who have shaped me as an individual & artist who resonate with me to this day include: Ann Reinking, Debra Mcwaters, Gregory Hines, Tony Thomas, & Alex Macar. I could honestly continue because I am grateful for so many people, but these particular names have had a tremendous impact on my entire life!
