We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney, how does your business help the community?
I help simplify life through meal planning, budgeting, and cooking! People are always looking for ways to budget their money, their time, or the stress in their lives. I’m able to help with all of these areas in two ways. The first way is by sharing plans I make for myself each week with clickable links. I then show myself cooking each recipe throughout the week. I naturally have a “can do” attitude so I’m willing to give anything a try. This helps others find inspiration in trying recipes they may have initially been intimated by. The second way, and the most important way, is to teach people how to make their own plans based on their individual needs and budgets. Having a plan in place allows people to make the most of their time and money!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the biggest things that sets me a part is what I’m NOT. I’m not a chef and I don’t have any culinary experience. I am a mom that cooks for her family everyday, using organizational and budgeting skills I’ve figured out along the way. I don’t have perfect photography skills or even a fancy camera! I personally become overwhelmed when I’m continually seeing the “experts”. I love learning from the pros, but I also appreciate the need for someone to put themselves out there and say, “hey, I saw this. I have no idea what I’m doing, but let’s try it and learn together!”. When you’re trying to budget your money and time, it’s hard to attempt things you’ve never done before. I try and put forth a positive attitude in sharing what works for me, my improvements, my blunders, and everything in between.

I don’t have a “crew” behind the camera and the biggest thing I’ve learned is that the people that resonate most with what you’re putting out, are the ones that are walking a similar path!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s no secret that one of the best things about Colorado is all it has to offer outdoors! I have a young family so we would focus on all the great things we could do with kids in tow! One of the first things that pops into my head is to get an awesome charcuterie box from “Get Plattered” and head up the Poudre Canyon for a picnic lunch! I’d make sure to take them to Windsor Lake Coffee for ice cream because it serves a Colorado favorite- Little Man Ice Cream- without the crowd!

Living in Northern Colorado, we are lucky to have some amazing agricultural experiences at our finger tips. Morning Fresh gives kids tours of the dairy farm where you can try samples of their milk and Noosa yogurt. There’s no doubt that we would visit one of our favorite playgrounds- Twin Silos. There are no shortages of amazing farmer’s markets with local vendors. Holiday Twin Drive-In holds on to the nostalgia of old drive in theaters while showing new releases! For a more adult focused outing, I would need to show them my favorite restaurant, Chimney Park!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family deserves all the credit! My kids show me how to look at the world in such a wondrous way. They ask me questions about how food grows and how we use it to nourish our bodies- this provides me with a deeper inspiration for a job that can become monotonous. My husband gets all the credit for cleaning up all my kitchen messes and for continuously stirring all the food, even if it may not need it. Lastly, my sister in-law deserves the biggest shoutout of all for believing that I had something special to share with people everywhere!
