We had the good fortune of connecting with Taikera LeGrande and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taikera, how does your business help the community?
Selfless Nonprofit Organization is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and teens to evolve from traumatic experiences, including child abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, and addiction. Our mission is to provide a safe haven where these individuals can access essential resources and support to rebuild their lives. Our vision is to build a future where every individual has the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential, overcoming adversity with grace. We are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment where women and teens can heal, learn, and thrive.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Outside of being the Founder of Selfless Nonprofit, I am also a Recruiter in the travel industry. I help others own their own travel businesses to create additional streams of income in their households. I also make and sell body scrubs to enhance your natural radiance. The body scrubs make your skin so silky soft and moisturized that you don’t need lotion after getting out of the shower! What sets me apart from others is probably my selflessness. I absolutely love to help people and shower others in love, light, and positivity. I believe in forgiving in order to properly heal, have peace, and true joy. I love to spread what I call “God Girl Energy” even when I’m in a tough season of my own. I’d absolutely give someone the shirt off of my back and shoes off of my feet if they needed it. That is what I’m most proud of, my God given strength and heart posture. This is also how I got to where I am today just by being my authentic self, having a passion for helping others, having the attitude of gratitude, and of course prayer. Keeping God #1 in my life. No, it definitely has not been easy. The challenges in life I’ve overcome came through prayer and meditation, listen to me without God I am nothing! Speaking positive affirmations daily and making the decision to get up and push through no matter how I’m feeling. The lesson I’ve learned along the way is to just show up. Be consistent in showing up for yourself and you can never lose! And when you show up, BE PRESENT in the moment.

I started Selfless Nonprofit Organization in May 2021 because of the traumatic experiences I’ve been through in my life such as child abuse, domestic abuse, being a single mother of 4 children losing everything having to move in with my Mom and start from scratch. Witnessing people that were close to me become addicted to substances. These traumatic experiences helped me realize my purpose in life. To help and empower women and children that are going through hardships to know that they CAN OVERCOME these traumatic experiences with grace. We conquer together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I’d take them LeBauer Park in Downtown Greensboro first because I just love the energy downtown. We can park and walk, get a snack, and some wine. The waterfalls and sprinklers are always nice to keep cool when the weather is hot and when the dj is playing music we can do karaoke and line dances. I love me a good line dance! Country park is nice as well to get a good walk in, drink slushies, paddle boat, and visit the science center. I’m really a nature girl when it’s not too hot and I love to travel. For a fun night out we’d definitely go to A Piece of Havana lounge and restaurant. I love the Cuban culture and their food is amazing, plus we can eat, dance, and have a drink all in one spot.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to GOD first and foremost because He is my solid foundation, my amazing parents, my 4 beautiful children, and every single person in my support system. My parents sacrifice and wisdom have shaped me into the person I am today. Their belief in me has given me the extra strength to pursue my dreams. My children are my greatest blessings! They inspire me to be the best authentic version of myself every single day. And my incredible support system, family, friends, and mentors, their constant support and mentorship has truly been invaluable. Their belief in my abilities has fueled my determination to overcome every obstacle. Thank you for being my guiding lights, my cheerleaders, and my rock through every challenge and triumph. I am grateful for each of you and the role you’ve played in my journey to success. Here’s to many and plenty more victories together!
