Meet Tana Ostman | Photographer, Videographer & Officiant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tana Ostman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tana, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is the power of resilience and adaptability. Working in the wedding industry—where no two events, clients, or situations are ever the same—has shown me that staying calm, thinking creatively on the spot, and being open to change is crucial. I’ve learned that even when things don’t go according to plan, there’s always a solution if you’re willing to think on your feet and stay client-focused. This mindset has helped me grow not only as a business owner, but also as a person. It’s taught me to trust myself, value progress over perfection, and keep going even when things get tough.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is all about capturing love stories in a way that feels true, timeless, and deeply personal. As a wedding photographer, I specialize in documenting real moments with a blend of artistry and emotion—creating images that couples can look back on and feel every bit of the joy, laughter, and love they experienced. What sets me apart is how much heart I pour into every wedding. I don’t just show up with a camera—I invest in truly getting to know my couples, learning their story, and making sure they feel seen, supported, and celebrated on one of the most important days of their lives.
I’m especially proud of how far I’ve come, because it hasn’t always been easy. Building a business from the ground up takes grit, long nights, sacrifices, and a deep belief in your “why.” There were times I doubted myself—wondered if I’d make it, if I was good enough, if clients would find me. But every challenge taught me something. I learned the value of resilience, how to trust my creative vision, and how to serve people with kindness and professionalism even when things felt uncertain behind the scenes.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success doesn’t come from doing everything perfectly—it comes from showing up consistently, staying authentic, and always growing. I want the world to know that my brand is built on connection, trust, and heart. I don’t take it lightly when couples choose me to capture their wedding. It’s an honor I carry with pride, and I approach each wedding day with fresh eyes, open ears, and a full heart.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I’d want to give them the perfect mix of all the places I love—good food, chill vibes, mountain views, and a little pampering. Here’s how our week would look, with my go-to spots in Northern Colorado and beyond:
Day 1: Welcome to Colorado!
We’d kick things off with a coffee run to Dutch Bros—because it’s basically a must. Then we’d wander around Greeley a bit and grab dinner at Wing Shack for the best wings and sauces around. Super laid-back, just like day one should be.
Day 2: Estes Park Adventure
We’d head up to Estes Park for a mountain escape. We’d browse the cute downtown shops, grab some fudge or saltwater taffy, and walk along the river. If we’re feeling spooky, maybe a quick stop at The Stanley Hotel. On the way back, we’d swing by Georgia Boys BBQ for some slow-smoked goodness—I’m talkin’ brisket, smoked wings, the works.
Day 3: Denver Day + Hot Springs
We’d drive into Denver to explore the city—maybe check out Meow Wolf for a creative, immersive art experience, or explore the RiNo Art District for street murals and coffee shops. Then we’d head just outside of Denver to Indian Hot Springs for a long soak and total relaxation. Dinner would be something fun in the city—maybe trying out a new spot we’ve never been to before.
Day 4: Manitou Springs Road Trip
This would be a full-day adventure. We’d hit the road to Manitou Springs, explore all the quirky shops and sample the different natural springs, then maybe walk up to the Incline (or just admire it from afar, let’s be real). On the way back, we’d stop for margaritas and sizzling fajitas at 3 Margaritas—the perfect way to end a road trip day.
Day 5: Chill Local Day
Time to recharge. We’d keep it close to home—start with Dutch Bros again, then maybe have a slow morning and lunch at Georgia Boys (yes, again, it’s that good). If we’re in the mood, maybe a little creative photoshoot or thrifting in town. Movie night or game night to finish it off, just relaxing and catching up.
Day 6: Scenic Drive & Spontaneous Fun
We’d take a casual drive through the mountains—maybe Peak to Peak Highway or out toward Nederland. No strict plans, just pretty views, good music, and stopping wherever looks interesting. Maybe even find a small diner or roadside cafe for lunch along the way.
Day 7: Farewell Feels
Our last day would be low-key but meaningful. A final Dutch Bros stop, packing in a few last laughs, and a cozy dinner—probably Wing Shack again, because it’s the kind of place that feels like home. We’d soak up the last bit of time together and start planning the next visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a doubt, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my fiancé, Miles. His unwavering support, patience, and belief in me have played a huge role in both my personal growth and my journey as a business owner. He’s been my sounding board during tough decisions, my biggest cheerleader on the good days, and my steady rock when things felt overwhelming. Starting and running a creative business can be an emotional rollercoaster, but having someone in your corner who genuinely believes in your talent and dreams makes all the difference. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without his love, encouragement, and constant reminders that I’m capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.
