We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Riggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasha, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Focusing on my Kids and giving them the best life possible was the most important decision I made. That purpose gave me the daily motivation to stay consistant, to never give up, even when I was sick or exhausted
I made a promise to be the best role model. To show them what strength, dedication, and Integrity looks like. That drive has fueled every step of my journey and continues to be the best source of strength and success

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m an independent insurance broker and a dedicated advocate for my clients. My role goes far beyond helping people find the best plan at the best price—I walk with them through every step of the journey. I assist with billing issues, approvals, and help them truly understand the often-confusing world of health insurance. This is a partnership that extends through all of life’s challenges, changes, and even the impact of policy reforms. I pride myself on being a one-stop shop and a reliable advocate for every client I serve.

My journey hasn’t been easy. As a single mother of two, I built my business from the ground up to support my family. Year after year, I grew in sales and broke records—not because I chased numbers, but because I focused on customer service, ethics, and treating every client like family.

During COVID, I was diagnosed with cancer. It was one of the most difficult times of my life, but it also became a defining moment for my business. Clients connected with my pain and vulnerability—and they saw firsthand how the right insurance can protect you when life turns upside down. I had to use my own policies to the fullest, becoming a living example of why proper coverage matters. That experience gave me even more purpose, empathy, and credibility in the work I do.

As a woman thriving in a traditionally male-dominated field, I brought something different to the table. Where many focused solely on products and numbers, I led with empathy, compassion, and a caregiver’s mindset. That perspective—combined with my deep knowledge and relentless work ethic—is what allowed me to rise to the top of my industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them paddle boarding on the serene waters of Red Feather Lakes, surrounded by pine trees and mountain stillness. Then we’d crank it up a notch and hop on a Seadoo at Boyd Lake in Loveland, soaking in the sun and the thrill of open water.

We’d hike to the stunning Hanging Lake, one of the most breathtaking spots in the state—with turquoise water and a trail that feels like stepping into another world. After a full day of dirt bike riding, there’s nothing better than winding down beside a campfire under the stars, sharing stories and a few laughs.

For food and fun, we’d dress up for a night out at the Gaylord Rockies for a perfect steak dinner, then head to Linger in LoHi for cocktails at their rooftop bar with panoramic city views. And of course, no trip would be complete without a little mystery—we’d go hunting for hidden speakeasies downtown, like Williams & Graham, for a cozy, secret vibe and unforgettable drinks.

That’s Colorado the way I love it—equal parts wild, beautiful, and unforgettable.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Recognizing that success is built by those around you, I want to acknowledge the incredible support system that has shaped my journey. The training I received at HealthMarkets provided a strong foundation, and I’m especially grateful to the sales leaders and peers who consistently give their time, knowledge, and encouragement to help agents grow. I’ve also been inspired by motivational speakers like Tony Robbins, whose messages challenged me to break through limitations, and by powerful women who have fearlessly taken on male-dominated industries and risen to the top. Their example gave me the strength and determination to lead with confidence.
On a more personal level, my kids have been a driving force behind everything I do. They’ve inspired me to be a better person, a stronger leader, and the best role model I can be. In many ways, they’ve become my accountability partners—reminding me daily of my purpose. And none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my husband, Marc, who stood by me through long hours, late nights, and weekends, so I could fully commit to supporting my clients. My success is truly a reflection of the incredible people who have walked this path with me.
