We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Blacklock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Art has always been a passion of mine, but for years, it was something I pursued just for myself. When COVID hit and I lost my teaching job, I turned to digital art as a creative outlet, and to my surprise, the response on social media was overwhelmingly positive. This encouragement inspired me to take the leap—starting with an Etsy shop and eventually launching my own online store featuring my art prints. From there I did local art shows, displays, etc. and was able to network in person. It’s been an incredible journey turning my passion into a business!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Transitioning from painting just for myself to a public endeavor required me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new opportunities.
Through this experience, I’ve learned the importance of resilience and being able to roll with the unexpected. Embracing change and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth have been key lessons for me. I’m proud of the community that has formed around my art and excited about the future possibilities!
At Taylor Blacklock Art, I strive to create pieces that resonate with the adventuring heart, offering a range of art prints and original paintings. My goal is to inspire others through my art and share the joy it brings me.
I get most of my inspiration from adventures I’ve been on and places I’ve both lived and visited. I think it’s important to experience as much as you can so you can cultivate your creativity!
My art resonates especially well with landscape, nature and animal lovers!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I currently live in Fort Collins and there is so much to love! Here are some of my favorites:
Outdoor Adventure: Lory State Park & Horsetooth Reservoir
Coffee: The Crooked Cup
Food & Drinks: The Cache and Ace Gillett’s
Shopping: Dandelion & Rust
This is just to name a few ✨
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge shoutout to Kris! He has been my biggest supporter throughout my art journey ✨
I also couldn’t have gotten here without the support of my family so a huge thanks to them as well for always allowing me to pursue my dreams.
