We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Dinh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is a huge thing to think about as a photographer. At the end of the day, there are over 100 photographers in Denver so the risk of the industry ends up being the same question for all; why would someone choose me?

Taking risks in my personal life and career has ended up showing my tenacity and courage to keep pursuing the best for my small business. Risks eventually have a downside but the mountain of ups is way greater than the downs.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a portrait photographer based out of Castle Rock, CO but I travel all over to provide my services! From business branding, headshots, graduating seniors, family to boudoir, engagements and weddings- the thing that makes me different are my very discounted sessions. I started off just wanting to add some extra income but never wanting to screw over people in price.

The thing that made me want to go into photography was self confidence. Over the pandemic, i felt like everyone was in the lowest low but I wanted to show that your lowest could also be the most beautiful! It wasn’t easy to start in the competitive business but with the perseverance and word of mouth from my family and my fiancés family around town, the work paid off.

My brand is based around being fully open and comfortable but also providing quality service with speed. I’ve always seen other photographers take three-four weeks return photos but i work to immediately go through photos and return them in a matter of less than two weeks.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh gosh, this is tough to narrow it down! Some favorite food and drink spots that are instagram worthy would be Happy Camper in Denver or the Rabbit Hole in Colorado Springs! Meow Wolf is a fantastic place to visit with friends as I could literally spend hours exploring every room.

The best part of being in Colorado means all the great hiking spots. Panorama Point in Evergreen, CO is beautiful. Roxborough Park in Littleton is spectacular as well. Pretty much being outdoors is the best place to be when being in such an amazingly created state.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout belongs to nobody but my parents and loving fiancé. My dad is a photographer in Austin, Texas so he continuously pushes me to do my best at honing in my craft. My fiancé is an amazing champ at understanding my busy schedule of clients that can happen anytime, anywhere. My mom is the best of the best as she is the one who helped me launch my website and has shown me how important it is to work hard.
