Meet Terin | Founder at Purpose House Sober Living

We had the good fortune of connecting with Terin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to spend my life doing something with meaning and fulfillment. I spent so many years of my life just making a paycheck, and one day woke up and realized the real path to freedom is to get up every day and get to do something that you love.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is called Purpose House Sober Living. We provide a safe, supportive and structured environment for men transitioning out of residential treatment. My only experience in this field before opening our first home was being a resident myself in multiple sober living homes as I tried to get sober, and the relationships I made in sober living were ultimately what allowed me to stay sober long term. In starting up Purpose House, I felt a calling and need to give back to a community of people that are so dear to my heart. It wasn’t easy, we faced a lot of challenges, and situations popped up that we didn’t know how to handle in the moment. But through it all what got me through was just trying to continue to do the right thing. Ultimately I knew that if my primary focus was to just do the next right thing, everything would turn out how it was supposed to. We now have 3 homes in Northern Colorado, I just recently celebrated 15 years sober myself and couldn’t be more grateful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Personally, I’m an avid trail runner and Northern Colorado has some of the (in my opinion) best trails to run on, specifically around Lory State Park and Horsetooth. So we would go out for a nice, long run followed by dinner at any one of the great food establishments of Fort Collins!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the unwavering support of my father, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
