We had the good fortune of connecting with Theron Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Theron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to create a different type of experience for people who are in the process of moving.

Moving is stressful. To add to that, a lot of moving companies carry a bad reputation. I wanted to change that reputation and build a company that stands by their word and is reliable.

I came up with the name, “Last Minute Moving” because a lot of people end up calling a moving company last minute either because their original moving company did not show up or they underestimated the size or complexity of the move.

I wanted to create a company that could alleviate that stress of moving and provide great customer service and communication.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Last Minute Moving apart from its competitors is first and foremost our availability and turnaround time. It is difficult for people to call a moving company and schedule a move the same day.

We have a network of movers and equipment to get most jobs done the same day or within the next 24-48 hours.

We also specialize in moving hot tubs and gun safes and we have special trucks and equipment for transporting them safely. Not all moving companies come equipped with right tools or knowledge to even attempt these moves.

Lastly, we offer a different level of customer service. Our movers are trained to provide excellent customer service which means transparent communication on arrival times and making sure there is a level of respect that the customer feels appreciated for the business. We are very clear on our pricing and forms of payment upfront.

If we charge hourly for a residential move, the customer is aware of the hourly charge and will see the efficiency that our movers work at.

If we charge a flat rate (Flat rates are reserved for guns safes and hot tubs), the customer will see us finish the job through even if it takes longer than expected.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of the first places I would take my friend during their week-long venture is to Avanti to grab a drink and bite to eat.

From there, we would catch a baseball game or a sports bar in LoDo (Lower Downtown). There is a great sports bar in McGregor Square called Tom’s Watch Bar.

Next, I would take them up to Glenwood Springs which is about a 3-hour drive to the mountains. There we would enjoy the hot springs pool and eat at a restaurant called the Pullman, which has food made from scratch.

Another spot I would take them is in Golden, CO where we would go hiking right by clear creek. It is a beautiful scenery and finish at the Golden Mill for a cold beer and anything they’d like to eat their food court/marketplace.

Another best kept secret to take them is Bishop Castle which is about a 2-hour drive. It is free to get in and it is a larger than life castle built by a man who has spent more than half his life building. It is a huge structure and the drive is beautiful from Denver to the outskirts of Colorado Springs.

Finally, I would take them dancing on south Broadway at one of the bars, or a night club called Blue Ice that has a mix of Latin and American music on Saturdays.

One place that you have to try in Denver is Maria Empanada or La Loma. Maria Empanada has a great selection of empanadas and Argentine culture. La Loma has a great selection of Mexican food and strong margaritas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to Garrett Taylor. Garrett is my sales mentor whom I worked for at Enterprise and at a construction staffing company called X3.

Garrett and I have known each other for over 8 years. He was my manager at Enterprise where I won a sales award for top salesman in the Southwestern United States for Enterprise’s Truck Rental Division. When he became the Market Director at X3, he immediately brought me on and together, we were able to grow the Colorado market from the ground up to a $6 Million Dollar market in 4 years.

After 4 years, he began his own staffing company and he inspired me to start my own moving company. He taught me that work ethic combined with his innovative marketing tactics can create a strong brand reputation and visibility.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t be in this position or have the necessary skills to run a business if it wasn’t for his hours of mentoring and guidance.
