We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I think of taking risks in a business or investment setting, I think of them as a win win. If you succeed then obviously that’s a great accomplishment but if you lose you have the opportunity to learn from the journey and there’s always something to learn.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Trufitcaps is a hat company with the goal to make the most comfortable hats for every head shape and size. We combine a premium elastic sweatband with an adjustable strap for every one of our hats to provide the perfect fit every time. The journey to get here has been so enjoyable but definitely not easy. It seems every step you take when starting a business comes with a roadblock but that’s all part of the process. With every roadblock comes an opportunity to get past it and each time you get past it you gain invaluable knowledge to starting, running and operating a business. Look at roadblocks that way and you’ll be successful. At Trufitcaps we want to be the hat you put on every day for any hat wearing occasion. We promise to always provide the highest quality products and maintain customer satisfaction as our #1 priority.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I find myself having to do this quite often (pre-covid time, of course). Let’s say my friend came into town on the train on a Friday night. Our first stop would be to grab a drink at The Terminal Bar before grabbing some fajitas from my favorite spot, Taqueria La Familia on the way home. The next day we’d grab brunch at Denver Biscuit Company, dinner at Uchi with a night cap at the Death & Co. for a late drink. On Sunday, we head up to Breckenridge to either ski/snowboard or just enjoy the area and stay there for a couple days. I usually kick my friends out after 4-5 days 😉 so we’d head back to Denver, grab some dinner and play some pool at Wynkoop Brewery before sending them off after a great week.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends and family have been extremely supportive throughout this whole process but the people that I want to give a shoutout to it’s the creative and entrepreneurial community in Denver, CO. I have been blown away by the support and acceptance into this community of creators and business owners that has helped me grow my company and learn priceless things along the way.
