We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Jurgensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance was not great until just recently. I used to work all day & night at my full time job and tie dye business. I was burnt out and struggling to keep mentally sane. I had a blessing in disguise happen in march and now I am pursuing my tie dye business full time. I feel invigorated and happy to know that I am working for myself and creating my own destiny. I can create art that people enjoy through a stress release. Making tie dye and creating my vision through color is therapy to me. My work life balance is dialed in more than it’s ever been.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from other tie dye artists is my abstract designs. I have done a million spirals, geodes and mandalas but I love creating one of a kind art. I try and perfect a crazy style to create faces and other shapes in my shirts/art. I am most proud of my art reaching outside of the country. I have shipped to Germany, Australia and more during my short time as a tie dye artist. I am where I am today because of the love and support of my partner, family and friends. It was not easy at all and I still have a lot of work to do before all of my goals are accomplished. I have learned that there are many ups and downs in running your own business. Plans fall through.. Mistakes happen.. but how we overcome the tough times defines us as individuals.
Fun Fact: I created a fictional character in the 4th grade called Tubular Tim. I wrote a story about how he was different and wasn’t afraid to show it. That character holds true to what I am today. That’s why I decided to name my company Tubular Tim’s Tiedyes. Don’t ever be afraid of who you are. You are uniquely beautiful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to Shoutout my beautiful and supporting partner Leah Aragon.
She has been my biggest supporter with my Tie Dye business from the start. She is constantly wearing and advertising my art daily. Even when I think I messed up on something she showers me with compliments and constructive criticism.
Tubular Tim’s Tiedyes would not be a thing without her constant support.
