We had the good fortune of connecting with TJ Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TJ, how does your business help the community?
There’s more to being a dj than just playing music or entertaining people

As a DJ I have to be an instant catalyst for the unity and connection of people. It is important to radiate confidence and self-expression that inspires others (with or without the help of alcohol haha) to get up and dance, take a chance and talk to someone, relieve the stresses of work life or regular life after a long day or week.

I strongly believe, whether at a bar/club, wedding, or other private event; i have the ability to set off a ripple effect that extends beyond the dance floor, making the community and world a more interconnected place, where people are not so divided, and collective happiness becomes a shared experience that i helped create

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love DJ’ing. It’s been in my blood since day one as a passion and it runs parallel with my want/need to be a people pleaser. I’m excited about the future of my career in all aspects such as the traveling that’s to come, the private events, and club gigs. It definitely took some time to get to where I am at now and it definitely wasn’t easy. In my line of work there is a lot of competition to beat out in order to be doing this for a living and i feel like that’s the thing I’m most proud of.

Some of the lessons learned is not everyone is a friend, but it is important to treat everyone as you want to be treated. Be likable and approachable. Having a personality gets you far no matter what you’re doing in life. the last thing i’d like to share is hard work does pay off. I’m also an avid listener to XM radio station Globalization and Pitbull will come on every now and then to say some inspiring things that i find myself saying each day “The word can’t is can, the word don’t is do, won’t is won, and word impossible is possible” Those are words i live by and are a direct reflection of the attitude i have for what i do every single day

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to come out and visit for a whole week, I’m taking them to all the local mom and pops shops, dive bars, night clubs, family owned restaurants, and anywhere we can listen to good music.

First we hit Butters in greeley, for champagne towers and breakfast, then we hit JB’s for lunch in Greeley. They have the best cheeseburgers in the world, and that’s a fact! After lunch we hit Fuzzy’s for some frozen margs, and to take over the touch tunes jukebox to play who let the dogs out 10 times in a row. After fuzzys, it’s a must to order a giant pizza from empire state pizza here in greeley. once the food is all settled for the day it, its time to bar hop, and we’re hitting The Box in greeley to start off and once we get a little buzz going it’s time ti hop in the uber and hit old town fort collins. Once in fort collins we’re hitting all the clubs like Bar District, Brothers, Rec Room, Yeti, and Bondi. Once all the bar hopping is done there’s only one thing left and that’s to hit the gyro cart before heading home for the night!

That’s just day one, and then we repeat rest of the week!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ultimately, my parents both share the spotlight when it comes to the bread and butter of my journey. The unwavering belief in my passion and dreams since day one belong to my mother, Veronica. She has and forever will be the wind beneath my wings

At young age, the art of mixing music, and the technical know-hows/intricacies of setting up speakers and lighting became not just lessons, but a legacy passed down from my father, Tony.

I’ve formed an unbreakable bond, both on and off the stage with my siblings and I’d like to acknowledge that my journey would be incomplete without them. Thank you Ivan, Isaac and Audrey

A big shoutout definitely goes to all the visionary bar managers, owners, event centers, both here in colorado and arizona for giving me a chance to be in the spotlight and enrich their venues with enthusiastic crowds and vibrant night/day life. As of lately i’d like to give a shoutout to The Rec Room, The Bar District and Brothers Bar & Grill up in Fort Collins; Kimberly’s event Center and The Box, in Greeley for bringing me in the past few years. Definitely looking forward to many more

Ultimately, where i am, and the knowledge and success gained over the yearsbelongs directly to my supporting cast. They deserve all the credit in helping me maintain an aura of coolness and approachability, in order to also become a beacon of inspiration to others; whether its aspiring dj’s, friends or family, friends that are also dis or a random stranger

I’d like to shoutout all my fellow DJ’s Vlad, Tyler, Zimbo, Squirt, Turner, Jimmy, Chad, Ninad, Jackson, Cam, Nigey, Mike
we all feed off of each other, share music and theories and push each other to be better each week, so thank you guys
