Meet T’Keya Alex | Content Creator and Social Media Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with T’Keya Alex and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi T’Keya, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I think that the biggest impact I have had on my daughter has come from my refusal to give up. Seeing me get up, show up, and give it my all every day as a single mother with health issues has helped her form an incredible work ethic at such a young age, has shown her that even when you feel like you cannot do something that you are more capable than you think, and has motivated her to watch, learn, and utilize my life experiences as a key of sorts to this roadmap we call life. After ending up on life support last year on a ventilator and dialysis for 9 days while experiencing severe complications including my kidneys, liver, heart, brain and more either failing completely or functioning at minimal compacity I realized I had an opportunity to either lay down and give up… OR… use the circumstances to show my daughter that where there is a will? There is a way. I have watched her grow and mature so much and the way that she showed up for me was so inspirational.

I also believe that placing her in Catholic school has been incredibly impactful. While I am not an active nor practicing participant of the church I am so happy that she is. Her belief has worked wonders for Ameirah. Sharing a close relationship with God has helped to shape her into a phenomenal little human. I think that having something to believe spiritually allows children to really open up both their minds, and their hearts enabling them to think of the bigger picture and ask bigger questions about life and existence beyond our physical beings, which also encourages bigger feelings and a larger motivation to be the best of their ability while here on this Earth.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have worked in home-health care for the past 9 years on and off an it has been incredibly rewarding to be a part of my patients’ day to day life taking every opportunity to make it more enjoyable and easier on them. I have created and cherished countless bonds over the years that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I have worked in the beauty/ cosmetics/ fashion industry on and off throughout the years and that is where my passion truly lies. I decided about 9 years ago to join the world of Instagram initially for fun and as an outlet to allow my passion for fashion and love for all things beauty take center stage. Never did I imagine that it would lead to such incredible opportunities like brand ambassador deals and reviewing products, brands, and services alike. My goal ultimately is to eventually create content full time and grow my brand/ business. The stars are the limit!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a Denver native this is my stomping ground. If my bestie came to town I am taking her to the Cherry Creek State Park for a plunge and to admire the sunset while perhaps casting a line followed by an extravagant dining experience at the Guard and Grace for the most flavorful barley risotto paired with the most decadent cut of steak that will make you salivate. One thing I love about Denver is the small owned boutiques where you will set your sites upon some of the most beautiful, eccentric, one of a kind pieces that you will fall in love with sending her home with apparel that is so much more than just clothing but a moment frozen in time in the form of fabric. Can’t go wrong with shopping!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my Grandmother and Grandfather Tricia and Murray Alex. My grandparents have been there for not only myself, but also my daughter in ways that words will never express. From my Poppa waking up before the sun to get me to the rink for ice-skating year after year to my Grammy retiring early to help me raise my daughter, my folks have been supportive in every definition of the word. My grandparents have always been there for me physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and often financially getting me thru some very rough times and have consistently encouraged me to pursue everything I have set my sites on in life while when necessary providing me pivotal tools to chase my dreams. I would also like to shoutout my Mother Anastasia for being active and present and also teaching me the toughness to handle life head on and to know no fear. Can’t forget my uncles Mike and Trevor for spending so much time with me as a child and sharing their life experiences and so many special memories with me. Last but never least, my 12 year old daughter Ameirah Renee for showing me what true love looks like! She has made my life more filled with purpose and joy than I ever realized could be possible.
