We had the good fortune of connecting with Tova Vaginshtein and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tova, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe one of the most important factors behind my success of building my brand has been my transparency and ability to create an emotional connection with the community. From day one of starting my business, I always made it a priority to share the meaning behind all the products I create and let people inside the inner workings of my brain. I notice that when someone can connect to a product or a brand on a meaningful and emotional level, the connection you build with them strengthens. I continued to not only share my message, story and meaning behind my products consistently, but also share the ups and downs and insight into my business. I truly believe that without sharing my meaning and story behind what I do, my brand would not be nearly as successful as it is today.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Reborn Club, is an online brand that supports your self-growth and discovery journey via meaningful apparel and accessories. My goal for Reborn Club has always been to build a community of like-minded individuals on their growth journeys and create a safe space where we can all connect. I started Reborn Club during Covid, this brand wasn’t really in the books for ‘life-long goals’ for me, but rather a side hustle to keep me busy during the isolation of the pandemic. I started making ‘merch’ for my Instagram page, thinking it could be something fun in the slow months and a way to make some side cash. When the business started picking up, I don’t really think I hesitated on if this was a path I wanted to pursue or not. I saw potential, I felt grateful for the unique opportunity to continue this business, and immediately started learning entrepreneurship as I went. The process of starting this business felt very natural to me, as it was essentially just a branch of myself and the things that I preach and follow in my day to day.

I definitely would not say that the first bit of starting my business was easy, but I did have a great support system. I taught myself everything via Social Media (mostly Tik Tok and YouTube), I made a lot of cold-calls to local suppliers/manufacturers and found my own community of businesses that I could source items from. I definitely faced challenges as my business started to grow – such as how to ship items out internationally, keeping up with accounting/finances, dealing with customer order issues, etc. However, I would say the biggest lesson I learned along the way when starting up my business has been that you can ALWAYS teach yourself something new. I honour the fact that starting up a business can be extremely intimidating, and most of the time you have no clue where to start. But just know that you are SO capable of doing hard things, you are capable of learning a new skill, and there are FREE resources around you (such as YouTube or Blogs), where you can teach yourself.

You are capable of achieving your wildest dreams. You are capable of doing amazing things – you just have to think outside the box and believe in yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well – I live in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). I would say some necessary areas to visit would definitely be: – Ossington on a weekend evening (for some yummy cocktails and food!)
– Kensington Market (for a cool, laid back, hippie type of vibe – also great for thrift shopping!)
– Queen St West (for some retail therapy)
– Lakeshore (rent a bike and bike along the path looking out onto Lake Ontario, so pretty!)
– Wonderland (a fun amusement park to relive your childhood… duh)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
HUGE shoutout to my family and friends for always believing in my vision since day 1. For pushing me to start my business, always being there to listen to my new ideas, give feedback on my designs, and test out my products. Starting up a business can be a lonely journey, but not for me. I have such an amazing circle of individuals in my life that truly believe in me and want to see me win (you know who you are), and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you.
