We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Abate and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

Honestly, when I first started, I didn’t see it as a business. It was just something fun to do because I love socializing and jewelry. Plus, Touchstone Crystal is the little sister of iconic Swarovski and everyone knows they specialize in crystals!

This opportunity came to me during a difficult time in my life seven years ago. I had lost some loved ones and had just become an empty nester with three children off at college. I had no experience in direct sales, so I decided to give it a try just for fun. Surprisingly, within three months, I started making money, earning incentives, and genuinely enjoying what I was doing. That’s when I realized I could turn this into a business. I started seeking advice on how to best build my business, attending trainings, and connecting with other like-minded businesswomen. And now, seven years later, I’m still here, sharing the sparkle

I offer some amazing options 1. Discover beautiful jewelry that is both affordable and luxurious, perfect for adding to your collection or giving as a gift. 2. Gather your friends and have a great time while enjoying the chance to earn free and discounted jewelry. 3. The opportunity to earn extra income and enjoy all of these perks above Plus, I’m grateful to be able to give back through fundraising.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

What started as a night out with girlfriends 7 years ago, turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. Just a little bit about me. I am married 30 years and have 3 children ages 29, 27, 25!!! Soon to add the title of Mother In law in October 2024 and again in early 2025!

Who would have thought that a fun girls night out to a my first Touchstone Crystal (which at the time I have never heard of) a Swarovski company party I would find something that I am completely passionate about! Besides bringing sparkle (literally) back into my life, it added financial freedom and of course lots for free and discounted jewelry, financial bonuses and incentives and earned trips. Plus friendships that I never would have had, from hostesses and customers becoming friends and to fellow business owners and other Touchstone Crystal consultants I have met through my sparkling adventures.

I call it an adventure because there is no day – whether it’s working with a new team member, sharing the sparkle at a party, event or personal styling session or Fundraiser that is ever the same!

What I do, is sometimes frowned upon and my job is not taken seriously because its Direct Sales. This once side gig is now my full time passion. My job is not taken seriously by many; I get it. There are a lot of companies that are MLMs and have duped consultants and customers. I am honored and proud to represent a company that is backed by Iconic Swarovski and is also a member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) which was one of the reasons I was confident with this company and why I am still here 7 years later. What some may not realize, this is my JOB and it helps cover everyday expenses for my family, allowed me to enjoy treating myself to a day at the hair and nail salon without guilt. To help pay for car payments, college loans or to just go out for an evening, take vacations and not feel bad about it!!

What some my not know that when my business is successful it allows me to GIVE back to organizations that are in need! In 2023 I have personally donated over $1500 in cash and over $2000 in jewelry. This, of course does not include the in person and online fundraisers that were held by many organizations to earn the free jewelry for their tricky trays, silent auctions, and giveaways!

If I could offer any type of advice when taking on a side gig, changing careers etc is do something that brings you passion and you are proud to represent. I love what I do and I am so very proud of what I accomplished.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in one of the greatest areas – As a native New Yorker, I made my home in New Jersey. Depending on the time of year, Summer for instance, I would head down to the Jersey Shore to enjoy the beaches, the amazing restaurants and just some great bars to listen to live entertainment. Not far from where I live is downtown Somerville, with its amazing stores, restaurants and bars. There is also a beautiful place called Peddlers Village in Pennsylvania that has the cutest shops, restaurants and has such a great vibe!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take a moment to appreciate my incredible customers and hostesses for their ongoing support. Thanks to them, my business continues to thrive. They constantly help me by purchasing, hosting, and referring others, and I am truly grateful for that. Providing exceptional customer service is a core value of my business, especially in today’s DIY world. This dedication is one of the reasons why my customers and hostess continue to support and refer me. They are the true foundation of my success! I also want to acknowledge the fellow business owners I regularly connect with. We collaborate, share ideas, and refer each other, strengthening our businesses as a whole. Last but not least, I am so thankful for my family and friends who have been my biggest cheerleaders since day one. They take pride in my accomplishments and continuously support and refer me. Thank you all for being part of my journey!
