Meet Tracy Grodsky-dunn | Pink Cadillac Achiever with Mary Kay Cosmetics

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Grodsky-dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tracy, do you have a budget? How do you make lifestyle and spending decisions?
Early in my business journey, a financially successful mentor Gayle Gaston gave me a piece of advice. Her plan was save 10%, give 10% away, use 10% to reduce debt and live on 70% and I would be financially successful. Knowing that I was choosing an Entrepreneurial life meant that I was responsible for making sure my financial future was secure, and I began planning for that in my 20’s. Often before putting my head on my pillow, I would close my eyes, and check in on my future self to make sure I had provided her the lifestyle she wanted, and she kept thanking me for planning ahead. Along this journey, many put me down for not spending money on “things” be it lunch out with friends or new appliances, but today I thank my younger self for sticking to that plan that is giving me the lifestyle of my dreams. Ecc 5:3 says that dreams come true with careful planning and hard work and I’m here to tell you, that has proven true for me. When my daughter Holly graduated college, I took her to a 3 day T Harv Eker live event in Denver where he was teaching ” The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” . He taught a slightly different approach to financial management and Holly committed to his plan. It was impressive watching her use his program which included a budget that put a percentage that you HAD to spend on yourself each week. If I had it to do all over again, I would make that change. I can see how that would have added a layer of FUN to my journey, and I suspect moved me forward faster.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics I wear many hats. I work with my Sales Force as well as build my own team, and build a client base and take care of their skin care and beauty needs. I’m reminded of a story with my eldest child Ari Flauta. They were 5 years old and we were at a playground with their cousin David. On a jungle gym as we called it, David wanted to climb up, but the fear was too much and I heard my child say, “David, you have to face your fears”. It’s more about what is caught than what is taught. I had a strong belief in the thought process of “Feel the fear and do it anyway”. I wanted everything Mary Kay had to offer but FEAR was my biggest obstacle. I had a paper near my kitchen table which seconded as my office in my 915 square foot home, that read ” I did the thing I feared the most excuse me while I cheer. Now hear I stand a stronger soul and all I lost was Fear”. As an introvert, it has never been easy for me, but I wanted what this company had to offer and I believed what they told me was true, so every day I suited up and did the work. I believe that “tracked numbers grow” . I create a yearly, monthly, weekly, daily plan and to this day, beginning with the end in mind, I know exactly what needs to be accomplished today to reach my year end goal. The two accomplishments I am most proud of are finishing Top 12 in Personal Sales, and in 2023 I was awarded the
“Miss Go-Give”. You are nominated for this award by your peers and it is given to Sales Force member who give the most for nothing in return. At Mary Kay, we call it a paycheck of the heart

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It certainly depends on the season! When my friend Linda Klein and her husband Mike came to town in December, our agenda included Core Power Yoga, snow shoeing up to Brainard Lake plus a stop in Nederland to enjoy the Carousel of Happiness was an absolute must. We went to see a ballet at Dave and I’s favorite ballet company, “Wonderbound” in Denver. There is an organization called “Dress for Success”, whose mission statement is helping clients become employed; stay employed; achieve promotions and raises; participate in valuable networking and leadership opportunities; strengthen financial literacy; and embrace life-long learning as they move towards economic independence”. I took Linda shopping at their event and we had so much fun.
Dave and I appreciate Breweries so we hit up a few of our local favorites which included Gravity Brewing in Louisville. Our other favorite is in Loveland which is Verboten. When they return this year, we have Meowolf, and the winter lights at the botanical garden on the agenda (and Dress for Success again). If you haven’t been to Lafayette to eat, Jeannotte’s French Bakery is an excellent breakfast stop and a recently opened Italian Restaurant, Bucatino Trattoria Romana is worth a visit to Lafayette to experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people, books, it’s hard to know where to start. For a birthday in my 20’s I asked my mom and my Mary Kay mentor Sandy Bush-Siemion for Tony Robbins cassette tapes and these shaped my early years. My mom has been one of my biggest cheerleaders throughout my journey. Mary Kay Cosmetics gave me my first understanding of visualization, affirmations, and positive mental outlook and how to praise people to success. Mary Kay Ash taught that there was no such thing as constructive criticism, to live by the golden rule, that everyone has a sign around their neck that says make me feel important, and to praise people to success. It’s an incredible organization of women supporting women and I am so thankful to have stumbled upon it. Today my son, Ben Grodsky, who works for Keller Williams with one of his roles being coaching realtors, challenges my personal gr0wth with new thoughts and as we all know, school is never out for the pro.
