We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Hamblen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis, what do you attribute your success to?
When we started the business, it was very clear that we had a ton of support from the community. The 2 driving factors behind our growth and success is the fact that as a team we never forget that this is our customers shop and we are blessed to be able to do what we love every day. As long as we never forget that it isn’t our shop it’s our customers and God’s we will always stay grateful and humble! To us those are the 2 keys to staying successful in these times!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When we started the hat business we were a mobile trailer. We received our first shipment of hats the Friday the 13th of 2020 when the pandemic began. We pushed through and were able to grow through it all! We eventually grew into a pole barn behind my parents house then opened a shop in Ault Colorado. We are different from a lot of hat shops as we full service from reasonably priced fashion hats to hand making our own brand and even cleaning your old reliable work hat or making Grandpa’s hat your style we can do it all! We handle Serratelli, Atwood and American Hat Company hats that you can leave with today or pick a color and design and we can build a custom one of a kind heirloom hat! No matter your style Fedora to everyday work hats we have you covered

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are located in very small town basically between Cheyenne and Greeley right off Hwy 85. Being a foody one of my favorite spots is the local country club that has a great menu along with a Mexican food spot in Eaton just a few miles up the road! The Pawnee Grasslands has some breathtaking views of the bluffs and Native American history. I also enjoy my home town of Ft Collins that is just a quick drive away. Ft Collins has a rich history of agriculture and amazing food and micro brew scene. I love the old town area and of course would have to have some Walrus Ice Cream and walk Walt Disney’s inspiration for his Main Street which we are lucky to call old town Ft collins!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our brand for our company is the Flying H, when we first started my Grandfather was my driving force and one of my biggest supporters. He actually bought me my first high quality hat in high school as a encouragement to graduate after a brief drop out after a altercation with a teacher.. Grandpa died a few months after the grand opening of our store. The Flying H was one of his favorites. The H in the middle stands for Hope he and my parents always instilled us to do our best and let God do the rest. The H also stands for Heritage it doesn’t matter if you are a working cowboy or a high ranking executive we have a heritage of people who laid the groundwork for where we are today. Last but not least is History because with our history we have no future! The wings on the Flying H stands for the journey, without hard work and drive no matter how much heritage history and hope you have without hard work it means nothing. Last is the circle around the flying h and that is life. We are firm believers in the fact that Heritage History and Hope along with hard work makes life go around!
