Meet Trevor Page | Business Owner and Reptile Enthusiast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trevor Page and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trevor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had always considered entrepreneurship, but never knew what I would want to do for a business. Then one day after 20 years of employment, I realized that my love and passion for reptiles and other animals could in fact be a successful business. So I opened Front Range Reptiles to show everyone the amazing world of reptiles and amphibians.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Front Range Reptiles was created to bring the natural world reptiles and amphibians to people who have never experienced them before. Our over 15 ambassador reptiles are extremely entertaining to handle and observe. Most people don’t have the opportunity to hold a 14 foot python or scratch a tortoise whose shell is as big as a basketball. I love seeing the amazement in their eyes, especially the children. In addition to interactive events, we provided retail products, feeders, boarding, and rescue services.
Starting and running the business the last three years has been a labor of love. Its not easy keeping over 90 animals alive and healthy. But with the help of dedicated staff, and a lot of great people, we have endured the last three years as a retail store. We are looking to continue into the next three with a new business model that takes the retail side out and focuses on just the “Interactive and service” part of the business. We will continue to educate publicly and privately. And interact with as many people, groups, and organizations as possible to remain a constant source of reptile and amphibian education.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For breakfast I head to the Silver Grille Cafe downtown Fort Collins for a the best breakfast in town. Then there is nothing like a nice hike along the trails above Horsetooth Reservoir to work off breakfast. Maybe do a little fishing on the Poudre River. Then head into town to my favorite pub The Coast (Formerly The East Coast) and have a drink and conversation with friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Brian Barczyk was one of the top influencers to spur my love and passion for reptiles. His constant work and dedication to the reptile industry was instrumental in showing me that a dreams can be realized.
