We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy & Amy Renee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Troy & Amy Renee, how do you think about risk?
Risk is what leads you to grow and experience life to its fullest potential. Without risk, there will always be questioning the what’s ifs. If you take the leap you’ll know the outcome. Together we’ve taken risks we wouldn’t have without each other, in the way we view the world around us, the decisions we make, and the places we choose to adventure together. We chose the risk of knowing each other rather than the alternative of walking away and we opted to take the risk of sharing the bits and pieces of our journey with our Instagram followers. It has been a great risk to open up about our relationship on social media and let go of the superficial opinions that may surround us but; documenting our story and revisiting the places we’ve explored has been a source of enjoyment and amusement for us all the same.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Growing up, Troy spent summers in North Carolina. I, having been a land locked Colorado Native, was excited about traveling to North Carolina; intrigued about the southern hospitality, the ocean and hiking the Blueridge Parkway. North Carolina seemed a thousand miles away and so far from the fast paced lifestyle of Colorado. The first time I stepped into the white fluffy sand on the Outer Banks and saw Hatteras Lighthouse in the distance I was transformed. We knew we wanted a piece of that tranquil lifestyle for ourselves, so we started planning our next Carolina getaway whilst still on the first and from there our Instagram Blog ColoradoKisses.Carolinawishes was born.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Colorado, we are going to brunch at “The Perfect Landing” restaurant which overlooks the airstrip and front range at Centennial Airport in Englewood. My favorite the lobster benedict paired with a mimosa. For an afternoon of adventure we are headed up to highest paved road in North America to spot mountain goats, elk, and bighorn sheep while getting lost in the clouds at the top of Mt. Evans. In North Carolina, we are boarding a ferry to the Cape Lookout National Seashore to climb the lighthouse and look for the wild horses of Shackleford Banks. Afterwards, we’d make our way down the coast for oceanfront dining at Oceanic in Wrightsville Beach and a sunset photo underneath “Crystal Pier” affectionately nicknamed the cathedral of the sea.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our families and friends have been a big source of encouragement for the both of us and they are our biggest cheerleaders. My sister Leona Hunter IG @corealtorleona has been a big supporter of Troy & I and our story blog, and together her and I have completed multiple volunteer projects with the Junior League of Denver that have contributed to the story highlights on both our Instagram accounts.
