We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler and Meghann Volz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler and Meghann, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We Launched Mayfly Woodworks in 2016 with the intent to deep root the connection between nature and our customers. By bringing a piece of nature into your home we believe it will strengthen that connection. We chose to work with trees because to us they are the ultimate symbol of life and allows us to thrive here on Earth. We travel all over the world to find trees that need to be removed then give them a new purpose and home. By going to these remote places, and even our own backyard here in Colorado we find some of the most beautiful and exotic woods.

Mayfly Woodworks was started by me and my wife Meghann Volz during our adventures outside. Our time spent out in nature is our most precious time and has brought us so much joy and appreciation. We wanted to find a way for people to experience and feel that same gratitude. We realized that the more humans connect with nature the more they appreciate our earth and thus can make an impact in protecting our planet.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Whether you know exactly what you are looking for or need help with designing something special, we are here to help. We go through the process of designing your project using 3D modeling software so your vision can come to life. Then when the design is approved by you the hand crafting process begins. Once the build is complete, we will personally deliver and install your unique piece to ensure maximum quality. After that the piece is there for you and your family to enjoy for generations to come. We take pride in the art of craftsmanship and handcrafting each piece to it’s own uniqueness. Being a small business is not easy and it comes with many challenges, but we love what we do and when you purchase from us you are supporting your community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you are coming to Denver, we have to first take in the Colorado air and sunshine with a hike around Red Rocks. Followed by a drink at the Morrison inn. We would then head to Downtown Denver to walk around and see the city lights and grab Dinner at Mister Oso. We would end the night with Ice Cream at little man Ice cream and a show at the Mission Ballroom. There are so many great places to visit that you might want to stay a few more days 🙂
