We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Tovar Licensed Cosmetologist | Cosmetic Tattoo Artist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria Tovar, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Ive been a licensed cosmetologist for 9 going on 10 years in the state of colorado. So the beauty industry has always been a big part of my life. Ever since I was a child I knew this was my career of choice. I would have never in a million years would have thought this was my business plan. Kinda crazy how I fell into this profession. The tattoo shop that I had been getting my work done over the years had offered me a position as a scheduling coordinator. I wanted to try something new and enjoyed the tattoo shop environment. It definitely was a pay cut but I was young and never really knew anything outside the salon industry. I worked with some well known tattoo artist here in Denver. One of the tattoo artist was offering areola/nipple tattoos for breast cancer patients. I was curious about the whole tattoo service, so I got to asking questions. He had mentioned since I was already offering beauty services to transition it to something more permanent! Did my research and I stumbled across permanent makeup. Four-five years later here I am with my own permanent makeup business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like there isn’t really a label or category you can put me in. But if I must chose its an artist. What sets me apart from others is my genuine passion for my career. Anyone can attend a class, take notes and perform services. But in order to survive in this industry you have to love it and have a passion for it.You definitely have to have tough skin in this industry”. I live, breathe and sleep this career. I enjoy the chemistry, algebra and artist part of what my career brings. I love to educate my self on new trends, sanitation, disinfection and product ingredients. The most enjoyable part is educating my clients! Im the type I want to have an answer for my clients or I’ll figure out the answer. I want to be known as someone who does permanent makeup as to a pose someone who knows how to do permanent makeup. Hopefully that made sense.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
All my people know I am a concert junkie! So definitely a concert don’t matter the genre. Would have to be at red rocks to get an amazing experience of the venue.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I might sound a little selfish, but who deserves credit for my success is myself .You can pay for success, you can be face of the success but it takes real motivation within yourself to push through all the obstacles. There’s been plenty of times where I wanted to throw in the towel. My self love and god has kept me going.
