Meet Vivian Cobb

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Vivian Cobb again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Vivian, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
I am Vivian Cobb, Keynote Speaker, Author, and Conversation Coach.
These titles reflect my evolution over the past four years since my last article in Shoutout Colorado. After 22 years as a successful realtor, I made the bold decision to step back and fully dedicate myself to my passion: helping couples have meaningful money conversations through my speaking business.
I’ve spent the last two years traveling extensively, with my most recent trips to Bali and Australia. On these excursions, I’ve taken the time to reflect on exactly how I want to live the rest of my life.
This reflective time has led to the evolution of my professional speaking journey. It took me time to fully embrace sharing my personal story of losing both my husband and my financial stability 13 years ago. Initially, I concentrated on the importance of embracing emotions—a theme I still incorporate into my keynotes today—but my message has since expanded to include essential conversations that shape our relationships and our futures.
What sets me apart is that I’m addressing a topic most people associate with financial experts, therapists, or lawyers. I’m none of those. I’m a woman with lived experience, a powerful story, and a heartfelt mission to help couples avoid the pain I endured.
The path that led me here has been anything but straight—it’s been winding, bumpy, and full of surprises. However, as I’ve learned, the most thrilling journeys are often like that.

Alright, so our main goal today is to give our audience an update on what you have been up to since our last conversation. We’d love to hear how things are going and what you are most looking forward to or excited about these days.
Everything changed when I decided to stop avoiding my story and start talking about what happened to me. What I needed to do became crystal clear, and it is now my focus and passion.
My journey began with my husband’s unexpected death and my need to survive and rebuild in the aftermath of not having those crucial money conversations when we still had the chance.
Money can be a sensitive topic and is one of the top three reasons marriages end in divorce. It is often one of the toughest conversations to initiate and have. Various factors contribute to this difficulty: our mindset, personal money stories, and our conditioning, to name a few.
Recognizing how crucial and challenging it can be to discuss finances in relationships, I now help couples build a foundation of trust, clarity, and shared financial goals. Achieving alignment, minimizing conflict, and planning a secure future together are essential for a healthy partnership. We do that by having open and honest conversations.
I speak about this topic to audiences to raise awareness about the importance of proactively addressing the repercussions of leaving a partner uninformed, the inability to access assets during a critical time, financial surprises like unexpected debt, and any other revelations that may arise during a crisis. Communication and exchanging information are the only ways to protect our partners if something happens, especially suddenly.
I’m excited about writing two books, developing an engaging card game, contributing my column, Vivieisms, to Snippetz Magazine monthly, and, of course, speaking to audiences eager to learn how to navigate tough conversations with confidence and clarity.
I have joined the board of Voices of Grief, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and support the community by honoring the natural grief process. In our grief-avoidant culture, it’s important to me to contribute to helping others in their time of grief, and given my lived experience of loss, it’s a perfect fit.
I will continue to travel globally.
