We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendy Campos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wendy, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from Costa Rica. I was born and raised there, and it’s where my journey began. Approximately six years ago, I made the move to Colorado, which has been a significant transition in my life. Being from Costa Rica and experiencing life as an immigrant has profoundly impacted who I am today. This unique background has given me the ability to see beauty from various perspectives. It has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had in my career. The diverse viewpoints I’ve encountered along the way have certainly enriched my understanding and appreciation of the beauty industry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey in the beauty industry began in 2005 when I decided to take a leap and join beauty school, largely influenced by a friend’s suggestion. To be honest, I had my doubts at the outset, questioning whether this path was meant for me. However, as time went on, it became clear that I had found my calling.

The beauty industry can be a challenging terrain to navigate, with strict beauty standards often dictating how one should look. But my perspective on beauty sets me apart. I see beauty as a celebration of who we truly are, without artifice, embracing our natural selves, and even our imperfections.

What distinguishes me is my unwavering vision. I’m not here to simply follow trends; I’m here to make a statement. I firmly believe that we are beautiful just the way we are, without layers of makeup. I’m known for my meticulous attention to detail and my commitment to truly listening to my clients. I pour love into every client’s experience, from our initial contact to well beyond the finishing touches.

One of my proudest achievements is helping women elevate themselves in various ways. It’s not just about enhancing their appearance but also boosting their confidence with words of encouragement. I have the privilege of working with an exceptional team, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to see them shine even brighter than me. Lifting others up and collectively achieving success is something that brings me immense joy.

My journey hasn’t been a straightforward one. There have been ups and downs along the way, but I’m determined to make the most of this career. Some may believe that what I do isn’t for them, but this only motivates me to demonstrate that beauty isn’t defined by rigid standards. My techniques are tailored for those women who want to enhance their natural beauty, not conceal it.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to truly value myself and the time I’ve invested in my education. I’ve learned not to let anyone, especially those who lack proper training and certification, undermine my skills and expertise. The positive reviews and feedback from my clients stand as a testament to the quality of my work and the positive impact I make in this industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week in Colorado, I’d ensure they experienced the best the state has to offer. We’d start in Denver, exploring the vibrant 16th Street Mall and iconic Union Station, then visit renowned art museums. A day trip to Estes Park would follow, where we’d stroll through charming streets and savor the local Thai cuisine. We couldn’t miss a day at Rocky Mountain National Park for hiking and stunning mountain vistas. Red Rocks Amphitheatre would be another must-see, and we’d explore its surrounding trails. The week would be filled with culinary adventures, from your favorite Thai restaurant to diverse city eateries. It’d be a perfect blend of urban exploration, mountain beauty, and a delightful culinary journey. Colorado offers a rich tapestry of experiences, and I’d make sure my friend got to enjoy it all.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to the incredible people who’ve been instrumental in my journey. First and foremost, my family has been my rock. My grandmother, in particular, has always believed in my dreams and encouraged me to pursue my passions, especially in the beauty industry. She played a pivotal role in helping me get started many years ago.

Of course, I can’t forget to mention my loving husband, who has been unwavering in his support. And my kids who have been there for me in every step of my journey, have been a tremendous source of support and encouragement for my dream, Freiya Beauty.

Their love and backing are what keep me motivated and striving to achieve my goals. This shoutout is for them – they’ve played a significant part in my journey and success.
