We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Woods II and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Will, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business aims to serve the community by providing both entertaining and informative content that people can watch learn and enjoy. I strive to build a brand that helps people who are late high school, college, and early professionals to navigate through life. Whether it’s related to business, college, or just figuring out life, my goal is to offer practical and actionable insights, advice, and information that they are looking for. My business has not begun to offer official services but it has built networks, connected people, and created content that has helped many people improve productivity and inspire creativity.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
“I have worked for a B2B full-service marketing agency, 50 Marketing for almost six years. During my tenure at 50 Marketing, I have held various roles and led numerous projects. Recently, I helped launch a podcast for the agency. I started as an intern working on small projects, but quickly progressed to becoming part of the video team in its early days. I managed the studio and eventually helped establish the video production department, which has now grown into an international team.
I also managed a large Learning Management System project for one of our clients, which involved hiring actors, writing shortlists, and collaborating with team members to put all the pieces together. When COVID hit, I led a team that helped one of our clients with a new virtual tour technology and helped them promote their business, which earned our agency a silver Davey award.
In recent months, I have been a consultant and visionary for social media projects, such as launching the podcast and now creating a LinkedIn content plan. It has been a rewarding six years, and I feel proud of the successes I have achieved with the agency.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Pittsburgh. I live about an hour outside of the city, but I love to have any excuse to go there. I would start in the morning in the Oakland area, taking them to a coffee shop near all of the universities. I would then show them the parks, the various historic areas of Oakland before heading down to the strip district for the mid-afternoon and for lunch. This is a great place to walk around, play in a large indoor mini golf place, and get any type of food imaginable for Lunch. After shopping and lunch I would walk around the market square and downtown area of Pittsburgh. Lastly I would take them to the top of Mount Washington to a restaurant that overlooks the entire city for dinner. This area holds the best view of the city and has multiple resturants.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A person I would like to give a shoutout to is the CUE team. I entered college as a freshman, and they took me in under their as an officer immediately, giving me the chance to go out and make a change. They helped me find a great network of entrepreneurs and I was able to practice my skills and grow myself throughout my freshman year. The older members of the organization provided me with a wide range of insight and wisdom for life in college and entrepreneurial work. They are a recent part of my story but they have been a big part this past year.
