Meet Willis Wood | Partner – RiNo Sign Works

We had the good fortune of connecting with Willis Wood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Willis, what do you attribute your success to?
At RiNo Sign Works, we feel that signage is an extension of a brand’s image and attitude. We design, fabricate, and install signage that other companies find too complicated or that require a lot research and development. The most important factor behind why RiNo Sign Works is successful is we enjoy working on the difficult projects and ensure the end result goes beyond our customers expectations. Over the last 8 years in business, we have developed a reputation as the go to sign company for any high end or complicated signage project.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After 8 years in business, RiNo Sign Works is landing some very impressive contracts. The latest that we just finished up and are super excited about is doing over 80 signs for the new Meow Wolf here in Denver called Convergence Station. We did the majority of the signs in the street scene on the 4th floor called C-Street. We also did a lot of the signs you see on the first floor as you enter the building, as well as the color changing letters/logo that say Convergence Station that are over the front entrance.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would have them stay at the new Cat Bird Hotel (we recently installed their signs) in RiNo as it’s a new fun hotel that just opened and is located near lots of new restaurants and shops. One day, I would take them to Red Rocks to see the venue and go on a hike and hopefully get to attend a show too. For dinner, one night I would take them to Safta in the The Source Hotel (we did the signs for both establishments) as that is one of my favorite places. I would encourage them to go over to the new Meow Wolf and spend the day exploring the new experience at Convergence Station. It would also be fun to take them to Mission Ballroom for a show if we couldn’t catch one at Red Rocks. I would also suggest visiting our wonderful museums; MCA, Denver art Museum, Clifford Still, and the Forney Museum to check out some old cars and trains. Also, a visit to Denver would not be complete without grabbing a bite to eat at Bistro Barbes!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a lot of my success to my close friend Jarod Clark. He convinced me to move back home to Denver from Los Angeles to start my first company in 2007, Trade Show Emporium. He taught me everything from website development, search engine optimization, and how to build and run a business. Jarod and I are still very close friends and I still look up to him and consider him a mentor.
