Meet Yemi Nicholson | Recording and Mixing Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yemi Nicholson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yemi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first had the idea of starting a recording studio, the business aspect of running it was secondary to me wanting to own and work with numerous artist in the city.
During the building process I realized it would be more work than just making music. I had been working in different studios in the city so I knew I’d at least have a few clients to start. I knew I only wanted to work with artists that were serious about their craft and wanted to grow and get better like me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There is a genuine caring touch to every client that comes into the studio. No favoritism, the client can always expect the best work. It wasn’t easy to get to the point the studio is at now. I’ve had to do things like travel and be available for the studio to grow. I’m proud of the product from the studio! It’s an awesome feeling when the client leaves with a smile on their faces knowing the work was perfect.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The most fun and exciting places for me to spend time is downtown and the mountains. There is always something fun happening in the city and the beauty in the mountains is unbeatable!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course my loving wife and family dealing with my loud music daily are to thank in my story! I’ve met a lot of good people along the way of having a successful business. I’ve had teachers to be thankful, too many studios to shoutout for letting me sit in sessions and learn from other great engineers.
