For me, the most important factor in my success was learning to stay true to my voice, even when I felt it wasn’t as impactful as other artists. When I first started pursuing an art career, I was painting in styles that I thought were most awe-inspiring or trendy, but something always felt off. It wasn’t until I started to understand myself, what I found beautiful, and why I found those things beautiful, that I was able to create a body of work that was true to me. My mind.
I knew that Grand Junction had “a problem” an increasing population of black culture that didn’t have a reliable Braider/Loctician. With an a strong black population from the college and people moving to Colorado in general this issue needed to be resolved. There was a point in time where I kept hearing the best way to be successful is to find a solution to a problem. Not just any problem one that can benefit lots of people.

One of the most important factors in this business has been flexibility! When I started “The WInding Way Farm” in 2022, I thought that I would be selling local produce to my community. I added flowers as a last minute addition, and that ending up being the best seller! Then, at the very end of the season, I decided to try out having a Flower Bar. It was a huge success! We show up. We are reliable, responsive, and genuinely invested in our clients and their design projects. Our clients feel how much we care about them and bringing their design project to life. We believe the “design is in the details” so we focus a lot of our time learning about our client’s preferences, objectives, and how they need a space to function for them.
