We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Bumbala and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, what principle do you value most?
Success may look different to everyone; but no matter the vision, I believe reaching any goal takes disciple, perseverance, and persistence . I agree with Andy Andrewās in the book āThe Seven Decisionsā when he writes, āyou must persist without exception.ā
Successful people throughout history have notoriously persisted at their goals even when told they were impossible. Discipline, perseverance, and persistence was what ultimately drove them to success. Something I like to ask myself on a daily basis is āAre you willing?ā. I actually have it written on several notecards hung around my house so I remember to ask myself this question multiple times everyday.
Basically, it reminds me in order to reach my biggest goals in life, I must be willing to persist, willing to persevere through the hard days, and willing to discipline myself in every aspect necessary to keep me on the path to success.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Statewide, Colorado is home to 44,000 licensed real estate agents; 21,000 of them active and working in the marketplace. So, itās safe to say I absolutely needed to set myself apart from the rest. Cannabis has always been a passion for me and I knew from my high school years that I wanted to hold a career within the cannabis industry. As a licensed real estate agent, I saw a gap in the marketplace. And although, I am more than happy to help anyone in Colorado buy or sell their home, I specialize in educating and helping cannabis industry clients. This may include: cannabis business owners, cannabis industry employees, or just anyone who partakes and enjoys the benefits of cannabis.
Growing my niche business has not been a quick or easy process. I describe my process as more of an oak tree than a house plant. There are no guidelines or instructional books on attracting clients within my niche. So, itās been an entire trial and error learning process. The most challenging part of a slow growing business is overcoming the constant feeling that Iām not working hard enough or long enough hours. To overcome this, Iāve had to teach myself a lot about time management and time blocking. Scheduling out time periods in my day to complete certain personal and business related tasks.
Through my challenges, Iāve also learned that the breakdown comes before the breakthrough. Good things donāt come easy.. or quickly for that matter. In life, you usually feel like everything is absolutely falling apart before things start to come together right before your eyes, in ways you never could have imagined. Persevering through challenging times is so crucial to achieve the goals youāve set forth.
Branding myself as Coloradoās āCannabis Friendly Realtorā has absolutely set me apart from most real estate agents. I want the world to know not only who I am but that I care, Iām honest, and Iām authentic.
Letās say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Brunch is the best meal in Denver you can possibly get! Some of my favorite brunch spots I alwaysĀ recommendĀ are Denver Biscuit Company, Sassafras American Eatery, Syrup, Snooze, and Sams No.3.Ā If you’re looking to adventure around Colorado I’d recommend visiting Garden of the Gods, Maxwell falls, the Denver Botanical Gardens, Boulder Mountain Park, or Mount Princeton Hot Springs.Ā Some of my favorite places to grab a drink aroundĀ Colorado include Avanti, Happy Camper, and Wiley Roots Brewery and if you’re looking for somewhere to smoke without breaking any of the rules, I’d recommendĀ hitting up Tetra smoke lounge!Ā
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are several people I could thank for motivating me throughout my life but I would never be where Iām at in life without my mom. Iām lucky enough to have a loving mom who not only has unwavering support and encouragement for me but who actually supported me through the beginning of my real estate journey. Without her, I would have never been able to take the leap of faith into business ownership; as itās commonly known, starting any business takes some time to start profiting. I donāt come from money but my mom has spent my entire life teaching me to go after what I want in life and supporting me every step of the way, even as an adult. I will forever be thankful for her.
