We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryanna O’Connell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryanna, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the single most essential factors behind my success in the photography industry was the education I was afforded in learning the fundamentals of the art itself. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to learn photography in a dark room when the world was turning towards DSLR cameras. With the guidance of an incredible teacher, mentor, and friend, John Costello, I learned the ins and outs of film and digital photography, had access to one of the only remaining color dark rooms in any school, and was able to fine-tune the bases of my skills. Today, I lean heavily on this foundation of knowledge to provide my clients with high-quality photos their families can appreciate for generations to come.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Photography is something that has always held a special place in my heart. The act of capturing a split second moment and having the opportunity to share it feels so uniquely intimate. I love being with my clients for these milestone moments in their lives and creating art that captures the feeling of the moment. Having an authentic connection with my clients is so important to me because I want to tell their stories in a way that is true to them.
I believe that I am only scratching the surface of my photography career. I currently work another full-time job while also operating my photography business. This balancing act can be difficult and exhausting, but knowing that I will soon be able to pursue a full-time career in photography is a huge driving factor for me. Growing up, this feat alone seemed almost impossible, so to be on this trajectory before 30 feels like a dream!
I hope that my story will come to known as one of passion and perseverance! It takes hard work and extreme dedication to grow a successful business and brand, but is is also so FUN!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are so dang lucky to live in this state! It was difficult narrowing this down to not take up a whole page. We’re doing it all and getting the full scope of Colorado’s amazing offerings.
First thing’s first, we’re heading West for to dive into nature and appreciate the beauty that Colorado has to offer! We’ll enjoy checking out some of Colorado’s most unique mountain wildlife on our way to the summit of Mt. Evans. Along the way, we’ll be likely to see deer and elk in the sub-alpine areas, and mountain goats and bighorn sheep above the tree line. Not to mention the 360 degrees of breathtaking views!
Next, we’re headed to Winter Park for some snow tubing fun! After that, we’re heading over to apres ski at the Vail Chophouse to warm up with some Fireball shots and singing along to all the best songs with the entertaining and talented Phil Long.
Every Colorado mountain town is unique and worth visiting and it would take a week along to visit them all! Instead, we’re headed back down the mountain to catch a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater. It doesn’t matter who’s playing – it’ll the the best show you’ve ever seen!
To relax and unwind from our adventures, we’ll head to one of Colorado’s many amazing breweries to grab a cold pint. Many of these breweries also offer tours so we can check out the behind-the-scenes of the brewing process too!
A week just isn’;t long enough to check out all of the amazing things Colorado has to offer!
Honorable Mentions:
Garden of the Gods
The Wild Animal Sanctuary
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be who or where I am without the incredible support of my husband, family, and friends. I am incredibly fortunate to have a support system that lifts me, cheers me, and encourages me to chase my (big!) dreams. Life is unpredictable and we should never have to do it alone. I am beyond grateful to be on this journey with truly wonderful people.
