Meet Amy Sufak | President and Founder of Red Energy Public Relations, Marketing & Events

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Sufak and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
In public relations and marketing, communication takes strategy and planning to be effective in reaching your target audience. You must be intentional. It takes years of understanding the psychology and the motivation of people of all different ages, cultures, religions, and backgrounds to be able to truly connect with your target audiences.
Social media platforms have become so globally accessible to everyone that it’s easy to believe that you can have anyone with an account post photos and videos. What many don’t understand, however, is that everyone who shares content to your digital footprint is a brand ambassador or spokesperson for your company or organization.
Regardless of the industry, any campaign that doesn’t have clear set goals or direction, the result is reactive and most of the time doesn’t produce what you want.

What should our readers know about your business?
Before founding Red Energy, I was was the Regional Director of Public Relations and Community Affairs for Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, the flagship of Centura Health, Colorado’s largest healthcare provider. I joined Centura following a distinguished career with the U.S. Air Force. For 11 years in the Department of Defense, I worked in community outreach, media relations, legislative affairs, marketing and strategic communications for six
Air Force units; primarily Space, Missile and Homeland Defense. During my last three years, I served as chief of public
affairs for the 21st Space Wing, headquartered on Peterson Air Force Base, the U.S. Air Force’s largest geographical unit
spread unit across six time zones and four continents, encompassing 44 separate units worldwide.
I served as a Department of Defense Public Affairs officer, speechwriter and spokesperson for 24 military conferences, political summits and military exercises in the United States, Honduras, Philippines, and the Republic of South Korea. I was the military support liaison for 12 major movie, television and print media projects strategically communicating the
U. S. Air Force’s operational and humanitarian missions to millions worldwide.
I’ve led the meticulous coordination of more than 800 events in her career, including summer concert productions,
military/state dinners, private, political & promotional events, media conferences, air shows and celebrity, legislative &
presidential distinguished visitor tours.
Red Energy was established on the principle of delivering excellence to every client, no matter how large or small. With more than 25 years of experience assisting non-profits, corporations and healthcare entities in a
variety of markets across the country, we pride ourselves on being able to offer an integrated approach
between public relations, marketing, advertising and events that build awareness and visibility.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m all about experiences, so let’s start with a food tour of the city! We’re grabbing a coffee from Carnelian Coffee in historic Old Colorado City (you have got to try the Honey Lavender Latte) before we kick off the day with a hike through North Cheyenne Canon – make sure to have your camera phone ready. Now we’re heading downtown for breakfast at Homa Bar + Cafe at Kinship Landing for savory Hand Pies! Now we’re renting a bike and stopping at all of the boutiques along and nearby Tejon – don’t miss Lady Finger Letterpress and Rocky Mountain Soap Market.
For lunch, we’re going to head to the Motorcycle Museum in the Tejon Street Eatery – perfect for sampling small bites! Next up, we’ve got to check out the Olympic and Paralympic Museum, catch a game at Weidner Field Switchbacks Soccer Stadium. Let’s finish the evening with a late night rooftop dinner at Lumen8 – you’ve got to try the White Cheddar Mac & Cheese and treat yourself to a Blackberry Smash cocktail.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have been surrounded by people that are passionate and excellent at what they do. It’s been a privilege to work alongside fellow business owners — the people on the front line doing their profession every day contributing to our community.
Everyone from healthcare professionals, restaurateurs, and mission-driven non-profit executives, to defense contractors, military officers, and business owners, it’s a collaboration of all these different people from different backgrounds that inspire me.
