Meet Theresa Ugalde-Cho | Acupuncturist & Women’s Health Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Theresa Ugalde-Cho and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Theresa, how does your business help the community?
As an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility, I am able to help women struggling to conceive. I had my own fertility challenges before I had my son, so I have a deep understanding for those going through a similar experience. I work with women who are trying to conceive naturally and those going through ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology, i.e., IUI and IVF). Acupuncture has been shown to boost fertility and increase the success rates of ART, which is an incredible way for me to help people realize their dreams of becoming parents.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I had the privilege of working for a fertility clinic where I was exposed to the latest research based fertility treatment protocols. I provided IVF centered acupuncture treatments, that Reproductive Endocrinologist in the Denver Metro Area found to be an integral part of their treatment. I also helped many women with unexplained infertility conceive naturally which was especially rewarding. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the fertility clinic closed and I was faced with the prospect of opening up a fertility centered practice of my own. Despite the fear I felt to start my own business, my passion for my work and dedication to my patients drove me to open Theresa Cho Acupuncture Clinic. It’s been said if you love the work you do, you’ll never work a day in your life and I have found this to be true. Owning your own business is a lot of work but ultimately well worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love checking out new restaurants in town. Some my favorite places I’d take her would be a Japanese and Sushi restaurant Matsuhisa in Cherry Creek. For some mediterranean food we’d go to Softa and for an eclectic palette we’d go to Spuntino!
Depending on the time of year, I’d take her hiking up the flatirons, check out Pearl Street in Boulder and get a bite to eat at the Kitchen.
For drinks and dancing we’d hit La Rumba for some latin beats after dinner at El Blanco.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am grateful to have been influenced and informed by Acupuncturist, Barbara Mahler who to this day I consider my biggest role model and mentor. It was through Barbara that I realized my life’s calling.
