Meet Janny Gray | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janny Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janny, what makes you happy? Why?
My husband jokes what makes me happiest is food. I’m not going to lie he’s partially correct, but also my love for my family and God. They make me the most happiest because I get such joy seeing my little boy smile when I reach down to give him a hug. I feel such an abundance of love from one little person. My husband makes me laugh at the silliest inside jokes and his little facial expressions, I smile and it makes me happy knowing we chose each other. There is no other person in this world that gave me my little boy and it was through God who answered my prayers! For that I am happy!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have started my photography journey back when I had my little boy, I wanted nice pictures of him for every little holiday or event we had and so I figured what better person to take pictures then his own mom (me) who is always going to be around! So, my husband helped me purchase my first camera and I have been practicing ever since and I fell in love with what I was able to do. I believe there will always be bumps along the way of success and it’s up to you to get through them and learn from them. I have learned a lot of new things with photography first of all how to really use a camera. It is definitely a lot harder than what I expected and it has been a challenge at times, but it only makes me want to learn more! I want people to know that they are beautiful even when they don’t see it for themselves. When they see their photos hanging on their walls I want them to remember their love for their family. It’s a joy to be part of their memory making and I am so honored when they choose me to take part of that!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, if I had the time and if I didn’t have a family to take care of I’d take my friend to Goldcamp rd and show her the mountains, I would take her on a few hikes and go to Manitou and eat at Matte Factor and have sandwiches and walk around and talk! The next day I would take her to City Rock which is a climbing gym that has the highest indoor climbing walls in Colorado Springs. But honestly I know we would just enjoy each others company anywhere we went!
