We had the good fortune of connecting with Trent Moriarty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trent, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
After working for about 14 years in a corporate environment I decided to start my own business in 2017. While running that business I picked up photography as a creative outlet and fell in love instantly. A few years later I decided to sell that business and do photography full time. I feel that being able to express yourself in an artistic or creative way really helps with being able to process the thoughts and emotions that you go through in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart most from others is not being set in one particular style. While I do have a style that I tend to gravitate to more than others, its always exciting to branch out as well as feel confident if a client wants something a little outside of what you traditionally do. That’s really the most exciting thing for me. When someone brings me a concept or idea that I haven’t done before, or a specific look that they are going for, it really motivates me to challenge myself and I end up learning so much along the way. At this point I’ve tried to engage myself in just about every form of photography that I can; real estate using a drone, wildlife, landscape, product, engagements. The only thing I haven’t done is weddings…they’re scary! With such diverse shooting experiences, you always end up learning something in one field that carries over to another.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It really just depends on the friend I guess. If they are more city oriented, grabbing an air b&b or hotel near downtown and spending a few days brewery hopping and eating til we’re sick would be a fun option. For the more outdoors oriented person, hiking the local natural areas, maybe do a local 14’er, fishing some of the lakes and streams, and then…brewery hopping and eating too much!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel that everyone that has been in my life over the last decade deserves a shoutout. Of course it all starts with my parents and them always being supportive of my passions, even if sometimes they get a little too caught up in the possible worst case scenarios. My friends have always been great at hyping me up and sharing my work with their friends as well as always thinking of me when a possible opportunity might arise. Then there is just the people I’ve met along the way, bringing me into new experiences both good and bad but ultimately giving me that emotional energy to want to create.
